Summary
As a Sonographer, you will performs ultrasound examinations to create imagesinsidethe body using high-frequency sound waves.
Job Description
Perform a wide range of ultrasound examinations in accordance with approved clinical protocols and departmental standards.
Conduct examinations including, where qualified:
Abdominal and pelvic ultrasound
Obstetric and gynaecological ultrasound
Breast ultrasound
Small-parts ultrasound
Musculoskeletal ultrasound
Vascular/Doppler studies
Thyroid and neck ultrasound
Other specialised ultrasound examinations within the scope of practice.
Review patients' clinical information and referral requests before examinations to determine the appropriate scanning protocol.
Explain ultrasound procedures clearly to patients and obtain the necessary cooperation before and during examinations.
Position patients appropriately and ensure their comfort, dignity, privacy, and safety throughout the examination.
Operate ultrasound equipment effectively and optimise machine settings to obtain clear and diagnostically useful images.
Perform accurate measurements, document relevant observations, and ensure that all required images are captured and properly labelled.
Educational Requirements
First Degree: A Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) in Radiography, or Medical Imaging Sciences
Postgraduate Training: Completion of a Post-Graduate Diploma (PGD), certification, or specialized diploma program in Medical Imaging from accredited local institutions or professional bodies like the Radiology Society of Nigeria (RSN)-affiliated programs.
Registration and a current valid practicing license from the Radiographers Registration Board of Nigeria (RRBN).
National Service: Completed National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) discharge or exemption certificate.
Practical Experience:
At least 2 to 3 years of post-qualification or practical diagnostic ultrasound experience.
