KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Project Leadership & Coordination

  • Lead and oversee assigned construction projects from mobilisation through completion.
  • Supervise and provide leadership to Construction Project Managers and project teams.
  • Ensure projects remain aligned with approved execution plans, programmes and delivery objectives.
  • Monitor achievement of project milestones and intervene where performance falls below expectations.
  • Coordinate project priorities, resources and delivery requirements across multiple sites.
  • Provide technical and operational leadership to project teams.

Programme & Project Controls

  • Integrate construction schedules across multiple projects.
  • Monitor project programmes, milestones and critical activities.
  • Identify project interdependencies, scheduling conflicts and operational risks.

Technical & Construction Oversight

  • Review engineering and construction activities across assigned projects.

  • Provide technical guidance to Construction Project Managers and Site Engineers.
  • Support the resolution of complex technical and operational challenges.
  • Monitor construction methodologies and promote improved delivery practices.

Quality Assurance & Control

  • Conduct routine project and site quality inspections.
  • Monitor compliance with approved quality standards and procedures.
  • Review quality issues and corrective action plans.
  • Ensure recurring quality failures are identified and addressed.
  • Drive continuous improvement in construction practices and workmanship.

Health, Safety & Environment (HSE)

  • Ensure implementation of approved HSE procedures across assigned projects.
  • Monitor site safety performance and compliance.
  • Review incidents, investigations and corrective actions.
  • Ensure unsafe practices are promptly addressed.
  • Promote a proactive safety culture across all assigned construction sites.

Team Leadership & Development

  • Mentor and develop Construction Project Managers, Site Engineers and other project personnel.
  • Monitor the performance of supervised Project Managers.
  • Identify training and development needs within project teams.
  • Promote knowledge sharing and adoption of construction best practices.
  • Support succession planning and leadership development within the construction function.

Stakeholder Management

  • Coordinate with contractors, consultants and relevant internal departments.
  • Participate in project and construction coordination meetings.
  • Support effective resolution of stakeholder and operational issues.
  • Escalate significant project risks, delays, quality concerns and resource constraints to the Director of Construction.
  • Provide consolidated project performance information to senior management.

AUTHORITY & ACCOUNTABILITY

The Project Manager will be authorised to:

  • Direct activities across assigned construction projects.
  • Coordinate project resources within approved plans.
  • Provide operational direction to Construction Project Managers and project teams.
  • Require corrective actions where project performance falls below approved standards.
  • Recommend technical, operational and process improvements.
  • Escalate significant risks, delays, quality and cost concerns to the Director of Construction.
  • Recommend recognition, corrective measures or other appropriate actions regarding project personnel based on performance.
  • The role will operate within the Company's approved delegation of authority and will not independently approve changes to project scope, contractual obligations or capital expenditure beyond authorised limits.

We are seeking an experienced construction and project management professional with a proven track record of successfully coordinating *multiple construction projects and leading project management teams.

The ideal candidate should have:

  • 10 - 12 years of relevant construction and project management experience.

Project Performance Monitoring and Management Reporting: Collect and consolidate project performance information from Project Managers, functional leads and approved project information systems for PMO review. Review submitted project reports for completeness, consistency, supporting evidence and alignment with established PMO reporting requirements. Maintain visibility of project milestones, key deliverables, critical issues, outstanding decisions, resource constraints and management commitments. Compare reported project status with supporting documentation and available evidence, identifying discrepancies for resolution by the responsible Project Manager or functional lead. Prepare concise project status summaries highlighting key achievements, outstanding deliverables, material risks, unresolved constraints and management decisions required. Support the preparation of integrated project and portfolio dashboards in collaboration with the responsible reporting, digital and project controls teams. Track the status and effectiveness of agreed recovery actions, management interventions and commitments. Escalate material variances, unsupported status claims, overdue actions and emerging delivery concerns to the PMO Lead. Support the development and implementation of standardized project reporting templates, evidence requirements and reporting protocols. Project Documentation and Information Management: Support the implementation of project documentation and information management standards across the project portfolio. Maintain and monitor the completeness of PMO records, including approved project documents, governance submissions, meeting records, decisions and management actions. Coordinate with Document Control to ensure project documentation is appropriately registered, reviewed, approved, distributed and archived. Support document readiness reviews for stage gates, project mobilization, construction, commissioning and project close-out. Facilitate access to relevant project information for PMO reviews, management reporting, audits and lessons-learned activities. Support the development of structured project knowledge repositories and the consistent application of document naming, version control and information retrieval standards. Continuous Improvement and Digital PMO Initiatives: Support the review and improvement of PMO procedures, governance processes, reporting standards and project delivery practices. Participate in project close-out reviews, lessons-learned workshops and post-project evaluations. Capture and categorize lessons learned, recurring delivery issues, execution challenges and improvement opportunities. Support the standardization of project execution templates, governance checklists, technical review tools and reporting formats. Assist in the implementation and adoption of digital project management systems, collaboration platforms, document management tools and AI-enabled PMO applications. Support the development of practical guidance, procedures and knowledge materials for Project Managers and project teams. key Deliverables To provide technical, coordination, governance and business delivery support to the Group Project Management Office (PMO) across the project portfolio and business development activities. The Project Engineer will support the implementation of PMO standards and governance requirements, facilitate coordination across project teams and functional departments, monitor the status of project deliverables and commitments, and provide reliable, evidence-based information to support management oversight and decision-making. The role will also support the preparation and review of technical and commercial proposals, project execution strategies, and mobilization plans for new business opportunities. Requirements Competencies (Skills, Experience, and Knowledge): Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, preferably Mechanical, Civil, Electrical, Instrumentation or a related engineering discipline. Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in project engineering, project execution support, PMO coordination or project management within EPC, EPCIC, oil and gas, pipeline construction, energy, infrastructure or industrial projects. A postgraduate qualification in Project Management, Engineering Management or Business Administration would be an advantage. Professional certification in project management, such as PMP, PRINCE2 or CAPM, is desirable. Training or certification in contract management, project execution, risk management or quality management would be an advantage.
