Location: Lagos Department: Supply Chain Reports to: Supply Chain Manager
Job Summary
We are seeking a highly analytical and experienced Manufacturing Procurement Manager to oversee our manufacturing supply chain and direct material sourcing.
In this role, you will manage end-to-end purchasing operations, from raw material acquisition to factory delivery. You will be responsible for negotiating high-volume vendor contracts, mitigating material shortage risks, ensuring strict quality compliance, and driving cost-reduction initiatives.
The ideal candidate has deep expertise in production schedules, manufacturing economics, and managing complex, global supplier networks.
Core Responsibilities
Direct Material Sourcing: Source, evaluate, and secure high-quality raw materials, specialized components, and factory machinery required for continuous production.
Production Pipeline Continuity: Partner with manufacturing and production scheduling teams to ensure material arrival aligns perfectly with Just-In-Time (JIT) or MRP timelines, eliminating production downtime.
Volume Contract Negotiation: Negotiate long-term, high-volume supply agreements, blanket purchase orders, and pricing structures with local and global suppliers to hedge against commodity price volatility.
Quality & Compliance Control: Collaborate with Quality Assurance (QA) to audit vendors, ensuring all incoming materials meet rigorous technical specifications, ISO standards, and safety regulatory requirements.
Inventory Optimization: Manage material lead times and buffer stocks to strike the perfect balance between minimizing warehouse inventory carrying costs and preventing stockouts.
Supplier Performance Tracking: Establish and monitor supplier KPIs focusing heavily on On-Time Delivery (OTD), defect rates, and lead-time accuracy.
Risk & Logistics Mitigation: Formulate robust contingency plans for global logistics disruptions, customs delays, and single-source supplier dependencies.
Required Skills & Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Operations, or Business Administration.
Experience: 5+ years of verified sourcing experience specifically within a manufacturing, factory, or heavy industrial environment.
Technical Proficiency: Mastery of Material Requirements Planning (MRP) modules within major ERP systems (e.g., SAP4HANA) and advanced Excel analytics.
Manufacturing Sourcing Knowledge: Deep understanding of manufacturing processes, raw material markets (e.g., metals, plastics, chemicals, electronics), and global freight/Incoterms.
Analytical Capability: Proven ability to read technical drawings/blueprints, interpret Bill of Materials (BOM), and conduct total cost of ownership (TCO) analysis.
