Duties and Responsibilities
Maintain accurate books of accounts and ensure proper recording of all financial transactions.
Prepare accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with applicable accounting standards.
Manage all statutory obligations, including PAYE, VAT, Withholding Tax (WHT), Company Income Tax (CIT), Pension, NSITF, ITF, and other federal, state, and local regulatory requirements.
Ensure timely remittance of statutory deductions and maintain accurate records of all statutory payments, receipts, tax filings, and regulatory compliance documentation.
Prepare tax computations, reconciliations, tax clearance documentation, and support tax planning initiatives.
Prepare, monitor, and analyse monthly and annual budgets, including payroll, procurement, and operational expenditures.
Support budgeting, financial forecasting, cash flow planning, and working capital management.
Perform bank, vendor, customer, and general ledger reconciliations to ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial records.
Prepare management reports, financial analyses, and performance dashboards, providing recommendations to Management on financial decisions, process improvements, and cost-saving opportunities.
Develop, implement, and maintain effective internal controls, accounting policies, and financial procedures to safeguard company assets.
Manage petty cash disbursements and maintain complete and accurate records of all related transactions.
Coordinate annual audits and liaise with external auditors, tax consultants, banks, and regulatory authorities to ensure timely completion of statutory and audit requirements.
Provide support during internal and external audit exercises by ensuring the timely availability of all required financial records and supporting documentation.
Maintain well-organized electronic and physical filing systems for accounting records, vouchers, invoices, receipts, contracts, and other supporting documents.
Stay current with changes in accounting standards, tax legislation, financial reporting requirements, and other regulatory developments to ensure continuous compliance.
Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams to support organizational objectives and improve operational efficiency.
Perform any other finance, accounting, or administrative duties as may be assigned by Management from time to time.
Requirements
Education:
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
Professional Qualification:
ICAN or ACCA certification is mandatory
Experience:
Minimum of 4 - 7 years of progressive accounting experience.
Previous experience in a tax consulting, audit, accounting advisory, or other professional services firm is highly preferred.
Strong practical knowledge of Nigerian tax laws and statutory compliance requirements.
Experience preparing financial statements and supporting external audits
Required Skills & Competencies:
Excellent understanding of financial accounting principles and reporting standards.
Strong knowledge of Nigerian tax regulations and statutory deductions.
High proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software (e.g., Sage, QuickBooks, Odoo, Microsoft Dynamics, or similar ERP systems).
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and reconciliation skills.
Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
High level of integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.
Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and meet strict deadlines.
