Lagos Executive Cardiovascular Centre (LECC) is seeking a skilled, compassionate, and detail-oriented Sonographer to join our healthcare team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform high-quality ultrasound examinations in accordance with established clinical protocols.
  • Conduct abdominal, pelvic, obstetric, vascular, cardiac and other relevant ultrasound scans within scope of practice.
  • Obtain accurate diagnostic images and ensure proper documentation of findings.
  • Operate, maintain and perform basic troubleshooting of ultrasound equipment.
  • Ensure patients are properly prepared, informed and comfortable throughout examinations.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential patient records and examination reports.
  • Work closely with physicians, cardiologists, radiologists and other clinical professionals to support accurate diagnosis and patient management.
  • Identify and promptly communicate urgent or significant findings to the appropriate clinician.
  • Maintain high standards of infection prevention, patient safety and professional ethics.
  • Ensure compliance with LECC policies, clinical protocols and quality standards.
  • Participate in departmental meetings, training and continuous professional development.
  • Provide excellent patient-centred service and contribute to a positive patient experience.

Requirements

  • B.Sc./B.Tech/HND in Medical Sonography or relevant qualification.
  • Relevant professional registration/licensing.
  • Proven experience as a Sonographer in a hospital or diagnostic centre.
  • Strong knowledge of ultrasound techniques, anatomy and patient safety.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and documentation skills.
  • Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary healthcare team.
  • Attention to detail, professionalism and compassion for patients.

Assisted Reproductive Technology (ART) Procedures: Perform ovarian stimulation monitoring through transvaginal folliculometry. Determine appropriate trigger timing for oocyte maturation. Perform oocyte retrieval procedures according to established protocols. Perform embryo transfer procedures using best clinical practices. Carry out intrauterine insemination (IUI) procedures. Perform minor fertility procedures including sonohysterography, endometrial scratching, mock embryo transfers, and endometrial biopsy where indicated. Assist in hysteroscopic and laparoscopic procedures related to infertility management. Patient Care, Counselling & Pregnancy Management: Provide comprehensive fertility counselling and educate patients on diagnosis, treatment options, risks, expected outcomes, and recovery. Conduct enquiry consultations for prospective fertility patients. Review failed IVF cycles and participate in failed cycle review meetings. Conduct pre-treatment, post-treatment, and post-operative reviews. Perform early pregnancy monitoring and first-trimester obstetric ultrasound scans. Prepare medical reports, referral letters, and antenatal referrals when required. Promote compassionate, patient-centred care while ensuring patient dignity, confidentiality, and informed consent. Clinical Quality, Safety & Governance: Ensure compliance with the organisation's clinical protocols, SOPs, and ART guidelines. Job Responsibilities Prepare exam room and ultrasound equipment to conduct sonography examinations in accordance withStandard Operating Procedures and patient safety protocols, policies and procedures. Review patient medical history and supporting clinical information. Ensure that the sonography examination order is complete, contains relevant information and meets the standard of "medical necessity". Prepare and safely position patients, using proper patient positioning tools, devices, equipment adjustment and ergonomically correct scanning techniques to ensure patient comfort and safety in order to get the most accurate images and prevent compromised data acquisition and musculoskeletal injury to the sonographer. Assume responsibility for the safety of the patient during the sonographic examination.
