Job Summary They are seeking an experienced and highly disciplined Chief Security Officer (CSO) to lead the hotel's security and safety operations. Develop security duty schedules and ensure appropriate deployment of security personnel across all shifts and strategic locations. Conduct regular security risk assessments and identify potential threats, vulnerabilities, and areas requiring improvement. Establish appropriate security measures for the hotel's entrances, exits, parking areas, guest floors, back-of-house areas, rooftop bar, restaurant, conference facilities, and other critical areas. Monitor and ensure effective operation of CCTV, access-control systems, alarms, communication equipment, and other security systems. Ensure proper control and monitoring of guests, visitors, contractors, vendors, and staff entering restricted areas. Develop and implement procedures for managing emergencies, theft, fire incidents, disturbances, accidents, suspicious activities, and other security threats. Coordinate security arrangements for VIP guests, high-profile visitors, conferences, events, and special functions. Investigate security incidents, theft, losses, accidents, breaches, and reported misconduct and submit detailed reports to management. Maintain accurate security logs, incident reports, access records, and investigation documentation. Liaise with the Police, Fire Service, Civil Defence, and other relevant security and emergency-response agencies when necessary. Maintain strong working relationships with local law enforcement and relevant community stakeholders. Coordinate emergency response and evacuation procedures and participate in regular drills. Ensure all security personnel are properly trained in security procedures, emergency response, guest interaction, access control, and incident management. Conduct regular security briefings, inspections, and patrol reviews. Monitor the performance, discipline, appearance, punctuality, and professionalism of security personnel. Investigate and address security staff misconduct or breaches of established procedures. Work closely with the General Manager and Heads of Department to identify and resolve security risks. Advise management on security-related matters, emerging threats, and recommended preventive measures. Ensure proper key control and access management for restricted areas. Monitor hotel property and assets to reduce the risk of theft, damage, unauthorised access, and other losses. Support the hotel's business continuity and crisis-management plans. Ensure compliance with applicable security, safety, and regulatory requirements. Review security operations regularly and recommend improvements in personnel, technology, procedures, and infrastructure. Requirements HND or B.Sc. in Security Management, Criminology, Public Administration, or a related discipline. Minimum of 7 - 10 years' relevant security experience, preferably with substantial experience in a supervisory or management role. Previous experience as a Chief Security Officer, Security Manager, Head of Security, or equivalent position is highly desirable. Experience in hotel, hospitality, corporate, commercial, or high-value facility security will be an advantage. Strong knowledge of security operations, risk assessment, access control, surveillance, incident management, and emergency response. Experience managing and supervising a team of security personnel. Good knowledge of security procedures and relevant Nigerian security and safety regulations. Demonstrated ability to liaise effectively with Police, Fire Service, Civil Defence, and other government security agencies. Strong investigative, analytical, and problem-solving skills. Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills. High level of integrity, discipline, confidentiality, and professional judgement. Ability to remain calm and decisive during emergencies and high-pressure situations. Good report-writing and documentation skills. Familiarity with CCTV and electronic security systems. Ability to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, public holidays, and during major hotel events. Military, police, paramilitary, or other recognised security-service background will be an added advantage.
