Requirements

Job Summary The CCTV Operative (CCTV Controller) is responsible for monitoring, operating, and managing the hotel's Closed-Circuit Television (CCTV) surveillance systems and other electronic security systems to ensure the safety and security of guests, employees, visitors, contractors, assets, and facilities. The role provides continuous surveillance, detects suspicious activities, responds promptly to security incidents, and supports investigations while maintaining the highest standards of confidentiality, professionalism, and operational integrity. The CCTV Operative plays a critical role in preventing security breaches, supporting emergency response, protecting hotel assets, and ensuring compliance with the hotel's security policies, privacy regulations, and superior luxury hospitality standards. Responsibilities CCTV Monitoring & Surveillance: Continuously monitor all CCTV cameras covering guest areas, entrances, exits, parking areas, public spaces, back-of-house facilities, loading bays, offices, corridors, elevators, staircases, and other designated locations. Observe, identify, and report suspicious activities, unauthorised access, theft, vandalism, safety hazards, and security breaches. Ensure uninterrupted monitoring of all surveillance systems throughout assigned shifts. Maintain vigilance and respond promptly to unusual or suspicious events. Escalate security concerns immediately to the Security Supervisor or Chief Security Officer. Security Operations Support: Support the Security Team by providing real-time surveillance information during routine operations. Guide patrol officers to incident locations using CCTV footage. Monitor access control points and security checkpoints. Observe crowd movements during events and peak operational periods. Support VIP movements through discreet surveillance. Monitor compliance with hotel security procedures. Incident Detection & Emergency Response: Detect security incidents promptly and notify the appropriate security personnel. Monitor emergencies including fire alarms, medical emergencies, disturbances, theft, and unauthorised access. Assist in coordinating emergency response by providing accurate situational updates. Maintain communication with Security Operatives during incidents. Preserve video evidence relating to incidents. CCTV Recording & Evidence Management: Cameras& Camcorders Ensure CCTV recordings are continuously captured and properly stored. Retrieve, preserve, and archive video footage required for investigations. Maintain accurate records of footage retrieval and evidence handling. Ensure CCTV data is protected from unauthorised access or tampering. Provide CCTV footage only to authorised personnel in accordance with hotel policy. Access Control Monitoring: Monitor electronic access control systems where installed. Observe staff entrances, restricted areas, loading bays, and service corridors. Report unauthorised access attempts immediately. Monitor contractor and visitor movements through surveillance systems. Verify compliance with approved access procedures. Security Systems Operation: Operate CCTV software, video management systems, digital recording equipment, alarm systems, and other electronic security devices. Conduct routine checks to ensure surveillance equipment is functioning properly. Report equipment faults, camera failures, or system malfunctions immediately. Coordinate with the IT Manager and Facility Manager for maintenance and repairs. Ensure uninterrupted operation of surveillance systems. Incident Reporting & Documentation: Maintain accurate CCTV logs and surveillance records. Prepare detailed reports of observed incidents and unusual activities. Record the time, location, and nature of all security incidents. Document system faults and maintenance requests. Submit daily surveillance reports to the Security Supervisor. Investigation Support: Assist the Chief Security Officer in reviewing CCTV footage during investigations. Locate and retrieve footage relevant to incidents. Support investigations relating to theft, fraud, accidents, misconduct, and security breaches. Maintain confidentiality of investigation materials. Ensure proper chain of custody for video evidence. Health, Safety & Security Compliance: Monitor surveillance footage for health and safety violations. Observe fire exits, emergency routes, and restricted areas. Report unsafe practices and hazardous conditions immediately. Support emergency evacuation monitoring where required. Ensure compliance with hotel safety policies. Confidentiality & Data Protection: Maintain strict confidentiality regarding surveillance activities and recorded footage. Protect guest privacy while performing surveillance duties. Ensure compliance with applicable privacy laws and company data protection policies. Prevent unauthorised disclosure of CCTV information. Exercise discretion when handling sensitive information. Communication & Teamwork: Maintain effective communication with Security Operatives and Supervisors. Attend daily security briefings. Coordinate with Front Office, Housekeeping, Engineering, and other departments during incidents. Support teamwork within the Security Department. Respond professionally to operational requests. Compliance & Continuous Improvement: Comply with all hotel security policies, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and surveillance regulations. Participate in security and CCTV training programmes. Keep current with advancements in surveillance technology. Recommend improvements to CCTV operations and monitoring procedures. Promote continuous improvement in electronic security operations. Requirements Minimum of National Diploma (ND) or Higher National Diploma (HND) in Security Management, Computer Science, Information Technology, Criminology, Public Administration, or a related discipline. Senior Secondary School Certificate (SSCE) with relevant CCTV experience may be considered. Experience: Minimum of 2 - 3 years of experience operating CCTV systems within a hotel, corporate organization, security company, shopping mall, airport, or similar environment. Experience in a superior luxury hotel or internationally branded hospitality establishment is an added advantage. Professional Certifications (Preferred): CCTV Operations Certification.
