Job Summary:
The Human Resources Officer is responsible for implementing HR policies, managing employee relations, supporting recruitment, and ensuring compliance with labour laws and donor regulations. The position supports staff recruitment, onboarding, performance management, training, and HR record management, contributing to a positive, productive, and compliant work environment at CDHI.
Key Responsibilities
Recruitment & Staffing: Lead end-to-end recruitment processes job posting, shortlisting, interviewing, and onboarding prepare employment contracts and offer letters, and maintain accurate, up-to-date Job Description s across all positions.
HR Administration & Record Management: Maintain accurate and confidential staff records, including employment history, leave, training, and performance evaluations, and support processing of payroll by providing accurate HR data to the finance unit.
Employee Relations & Welfare: Serve as the first point of contact for HR-related inquiries and staff concerns, promote a healthy and respectful workplace culture, support staff welfare and benefits administration, and address employee grievances professionally.
Performance Management & Capacity Building: Support implementation of performance appraisal systems, guide supervisors and staff on performance improvement processes, and identify training needs to inform annual capacity-building plans.
Compliance & Policy Implementation: Ensure HR policies are implemented consistently and updated in line with Nigerian labor laws and donor standards, and support internal and external audits with HR-related documentation and responses.
Safeguarding & Accountability: Ensure staff compliance with CDHI's Code of Conduct, Safeguarding, and Child Protection Policies, and promote a workplace culture that prevents exploitation, abuse, and harassment.
Qualifications and Experience
Education: Bachelor's degree in Human Resources Management, Business Administration, Social Sciences, or a related field (CIPM certification is an advantage).
Experience: Minimum of 3 - 5 years' relevant HR experience, preferably in an NGO or donor-funded organization.
Technical Knowledge: Good knowledge of Nigerian labor laws, HR best practices, and recruitment procedures, with experience managing staff benefits, contracts, and performance systems.
Skills: Strong interpersonal, communication, and conflict resolution skills, a high level of confidentiality, integrity, and professionalism, and excellent computer skills, especially MS Excel and HR software/tools.
Language & Context: Fluency in English; knowledge of local languages (Hausa, Kanuri, Fulfulde) is an added advantage. Willingness to travel occasionally to field offices and project sites.

Maintain a clear understanding of CDHI's and donor compliance and ethics standards as applicable to the position, and adhere to those standards.
