Role Description
The Human Resources Manager will oversee the full spectrum of HR activities to support ALP NG & Co's people strategy and organizational culture. This full-time, on-site role is based in Lagos and includes responsibility for recruitment, onboarding, performance management, and employee engagement.
The Human Resources Manager will develop and implement HR policies and procedures, ensure compliance with Nigerian labor laws, and maintain accurate HR records and reporting.
Day-to-day tasks include partnering with practice heads on workforce planning, managing compensation and benefits administration, coordinating training and development programs, and handling employee relations matters in a fair and consistent manner.
The role will also support change management initiatives, promote a diverse and inclusive work environment, and contribute to continuous improvement of HR processes aligned with the firm's growth objectives.
Job Responsibilities
HR Strategy Implementation: Develop and execute a comprehensive People & Culture strategy aligned with organizational goals.
Talent Management: Develop and manage recruitment, onboarding, and retention strategies to attract and retain top talent. Implement performance management systems that drive accountability and growth. Competency mapping.
Performance Management: Administer performance appraisal systems and ensure regular feedback and development plans for employees.
Culture & Engagement: Foster a positive, inclusive, and values-driven workplace culture. Design and implement employee engagement programs and feedback mechanisms.
Learning and Development: Create and manage frameworks for leadership development, career progression, and continuous learning.
Compliance & Risk Management: Ensure compliance with labor laws, regulations, and company policies. Manage employee relations and resolve complex HR issues effectively
Compensation and Benefits: Oversee compensation structures, benefits programs and HR systems to ensure efficiency and fairness.
HR Metrics: Monitor and report on HR metrics to measure the effectiveness of HR initiatives.
Leadership: Provide guidance and support to HR team members and other managers.
Policy Management: Develop, implement, and manage HR policies and procedures to ensure consistency and compliance across the organization.
Budget Management: Develop and manage budgets for HR functions.
Qualifications
Demonstrated experience in core HR functions, including recruitment, onboarding, performance management, and employee relations.
Strong skills in HR policy development, compliance with Nigerian labor laws, and HR documentation and reporting.
Proficiency in developing and delivering training, managing career development programs, and supporting organizational learning.
Experience with compensation and benefits administration, payroll coordination, and HR data management using HRIS tools.
Excellent interpersonal, communication, and conflict-resolution skills, with the ability to build trust across diverse teams.
Proven ability to work collaboratively with senior leadership, support change management, and drive employee engagement initiatives.
Bachelor's degree in Human Resources Management, Industrial Relations, Law, Business Administration, or a related field; professional HR certification (e.g., CIPM, SHRM) is required
Prior experience as an HR Manager or senior HR generalist, ideally in professional services, legal, or consulting environments.
Strong organizational and analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
Experience
8 years of progressive HR experience, including at least 3 years in a senior role.
