Purpose

  • To ensure that all health and safety requirements for fire prevention, protection, and operations are carried out when required.
  • To implement Engineering, Education, and Enforcement measures in Fire Prevention and Protection.
  • To identify hazards, assess risks, and implement control measures to prevent accident occurrences in the workplace.

The Job

  • Supervises the enforcement and compliance of all safety rules and regulations, safe work practices (strict work permit system implementation for all non-routine works)
  • Ensures the correct functionality of critical to safety equipment at strategic locations - LNG, Solvent Extraction Plants, B2C, Refinery.
  • Ensures the integrity of all fire infrastructure (suppression and detection) on site.
  • Regular checks on the functionality of the fire truck and escalation for repairs or maintenance when necessary.
  • Ensuring timely and safe evacuation of personnel during an emergency in coordination with the site emergency responder team leader.
  • Daily checks of the underground storage water level and fire hydrant pumps to ensure they are emergency-ready.
  • Fight fire within the factory premises and at all other company-owned property.

Qualifications

  • OND in any physical or pure Science or related discipline

Experience:

  • Minimum of two (2) years' cognate experience preferably in a manufacturing, production or FMCG environment
  • Membership of the Nigerian Institute of Safety Professionals

Training in incident investigation, root cause analysis, risk assessment, permit to work and emergency response.
