Position Summary

  • The Driver will be responsible for providing safe, timely, and professional transportation services for the organisation.
  • The Driver will also support field activities and other organizational operations, ensure the proper maintenance and safe operation of the assigned vehicle, maintain accurate vehicle records, and comply with all applicable traffic and road safety requirements.
  • The successful candidate should have a clean driving record, good knowledge of Nairobi and other parts of Kenya, and demonstrated experience driving a manual vehicle.

Key Responsibilities

  • Safely transport YAA staff and other authorized persons to meetings, programme activities, field engagements, and other destinations as assigned.
  • Drive organizational vehicles responsibly and in accordance with Kenyan traffic laws and road safety regulations.
  • Conduct routine checks of the vehicle before use and promptly report mechanical,safety, or other faults.
  • Ensure that the assigned vehicle is kept clean, secure, and in good working condition.
  • Maintain accurate vehicle logbooks and records of journeys, mileage, fuel consumption, and other relevant information.
  • Monitor fuel levels and support timely refuelling of the vehicle as required.
  • Ensure that vehicle documentation, including insurance, inspection, and otherstatutory requirements, remains valid and report upcoming renewals to the supervisor.
  • Coordinate and follow up on routine vehicle servicing and maintenance as directed.
  • Report accidents, incidents, mechanical problems, or other issues involving the vehicle immediately to the supervisor.
  • Perform any other duties related to transportation and logistics as assigned by the supervisor.

Qualifications and Experience

Applicants should possess:

  • KCSE certificate or equivalent qualification.
  • A valid Kenyan driving licence, Class B, with authorization to drive the vehicle assigned by YAA.
  • At least five (5) years of active driving experience.
  • Demonstrated experience driving a manual vehicle.
  • A valid Certificate of Good Conduct.
  • Possession of certificate of defensive driving is an added advantage
  • A clean and responsible driving record.
  • Good knowledge of Nairobi and major roads and routesin Kenya.
  • Basic knowledge of vehicle maintenance and the ability to identify and report common mechanical or safety issues.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
