About the Role

  • The Account Officer will support the firm's financial operations by maintaining accurate financial records, monitoring transactions, managing receivables and payables, and supporting financial reporting and controls.
  • The successful candidate should be highly organised, numerate, detail-oriented, and capable of handling sensitive financial information with a high degree of integrity and confidentiality.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records.
  • Record and reconcile daily income and expenditure.
  • Prepare invoices, receipts, payment schedules, and supporting documentation.
  • Monitor client payments and outstanding receivables.
  • Follow up on outstanding payments where necessary.
  • Process approved payments and maintain proper financial documentation.
  • Perform bank and account reconciliations.
  • Assist with the preparation of periodic financial and management reports.
  • Monitor operational expenses and support budget tracking.
  • Maintain records of reimbursements, expenses, and petty cash.
  • Liaise with banks, vendors, clients, and other relevant stakeholders.
  • Support the firm's tax and statutory financial obligations.
  • Identify financial discrepancies and promptly escalate irregularities.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality of the firm's financial information.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree/HND in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related field.
  • 2 - 4 years' relevant accounting or finance experience.
  • Experience within a law firm or professional services environment is an advantage.
  • Strong knowledge of bookkeeping, reconciliations, invoicing, and financial reporting.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software.
  • Strong numerical and analytical skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
  • High level of integrity, confidentiality, and professionalism.
  • ICAN, ANAN, ACCA, or relevant professional certification is an advantage.
