Role Description This is a full-time, on-site Wireline/Slickline Mechanic role based in Port Harcourt. The person in this role will carry out routine and preventive maintenance on wireline/slickline units, heavy equipment, and related mechanical systems to ensure safe and reliable operation. Daily tasks include inspecting equipment before and after jobs, diagnosing mechanical issues, performing repairs and adjustments, and documenting all maintenance activities in accordance with company standards. The role involves supporting field operations teams, responding to equipment breakdowns, coordinating with supervisors to plan maintenance schedules, and adhering to all health, safety, and environmental procedures. The Wireline/Slickline Mechanic will also assist in continuous improvement initiatives, keeping tools, parts, and workshops organized and ready for deployment.
Qualifications
- Ability to perform equipment Maintenance & Repair on wireline/slickline units and related heavy equipment.
- Experience in Maintenance and Preventive Maintenance programs, including scheduled inspections and service routines.
- Strong Troubleshooting skills for diagnosing mechanical and hydraulic faults and implementing effective corrective actions.
- Hands-on experience working with Heavy Equipment used in oilfield and wireline/slickline operations.
- Technical diploma or degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Maintenance, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Knowledge of oilfield safety standards and ability to follow HSE policies and procedures consistently.
- Capacity to read and interpret technical drawings, manuals, and equipment specifications.
- Effective communication skills and ability to collaborate with field crews and supervisors in a high-pressure environment.
- Willingness to work shifts, weekends, and in challenging field conditions as operational needs require.
- Previous experience in wireline, slickline, or upstream oilfield services in Port Harcourt or similar locations is an advantage.
