Job Summary

  • We are seeking a skilled and experienced Truck Mechanic to inspect, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair heavy-duty trucks and commercial vehicles.
  • This role is ideal for a technically competent and safety-conscious Truck Mechanic who can maintain heavy-duty vehicles to a high standard, minimize vehicle downtime, and ensure trucks remain safe, reliable, and operational.

Key Responsibilities

  • Inspect, service, maintain, and repair trucks and heavy-duty vehicles.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic faults.
  • Carry out preventive and corrective maintenance on company trucks.
  • Service and repair diesel engines, transmissions, braking systems, suspension systems, and steering components.
  • Conduct routine oil changes, lubrication, filter replacement, and fluid checks.
  • Inspect tyres, batteries, cooling systems, exhaust systems, and other vehicle components.
  • Identify worn or damaged parts and recommend appropriate repairs or replacements.
  • Use diagnostic tools and equipment to identify vehicle faults.
  • Respond to vehicle breakdowns and carry out repairs at project or field locations when required.
  • Maintain accurate records of inspections, repairs, servicing, and maintenance activities.
  • Ensure all repairs are completed according to manufacturer specifications and company standards.
  • Monitor vehicle performance and report major defects or maintenance requirements to management.
  • Maintain proper care and accountability of workshop tools, equipment, and spare parts.
  • Keep the workshop and work area clean, organized, and safe.
  • Comply with company HSE policies and applicable vehicle safety regulations.
  • Perform other duties assigned by management.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Certificate, Trade Test, OND, HND, or equivalent qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Automobile Engineering, Motor Vehicle Mechanics, or a related field.
  • Must have 2 - 5 years' experience as a Truck Mechanic, Diesel Mechanic, or Heavy-Duty Vehicle Mechanic.
  • Proven experience servicing and repairing heavy-duty trucks and commercial vehicles.
  • Strong knowledge of diesel engines, transmissions, braking systems, suspension, steering, and electrical systems.
  • Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical and electrical faults.
  • Knowledge of preventive and corrective vehicle maintenance.
  • Ability to use workshop tools and vehicle diagnostic equipment.
  • Good knowledge of vehicle safety and maintenance procedures.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a technical team.
  • Ability to work under pressure and respond to vehicle breakdowns promptly.
  • Willingness to work at project sites or remote locations when required.
  • The ideal candidate should have strong knowledge of diesel engines, transmission systems, braking systems, electrical systems, and other truck components, while ensuring vehicles remain safe, reliable, and operational.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience working with heavy-duty trucks used in construction, oil & gas, logistics, or engineering operations.
  • Experience with different truck brands and diesel engine systems.
  • Knowledge of electronic vehicle diagnostic systems.
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Good communication and reporting skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a multicultural and multidisciplinary team.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours when required.
