Develop and implement a comprehensive communications strategy aligned with organisational priorities
Define key messages, audiences, and channels to strengthen visibility
Manage annual communications calendar and monitor KPIs (reach, engagement, donor retention, media mentions, analytics)
Evaluate communication effectiveness and recommend improvementsStorytelling & Content Development
Lead creation of newsletters, donor reports, blogs, social media posts, photography, and short films
Collect authentic stories and visuals from programme teams
Maintain central content and image library with informed consent
Produce materials aligned with brand guidelines and ethical storytelling principles
Support leadership team with speeches and presentationsFundraising Through Communications
Implement communicationsbased fundraising approach focused on donor retention and growth
Prepare concept notes, letters of interest, and donor updates
Coordinate donor visits, media tours, and events
Create donor dashboards and impact storiesBrand Management
Safeguard and strengthen The Maa Trust’s brand identity
Develop and maintain brand/style guide and train staff
Oversee production of branded materials (brochures, signage, reports, plaques)Media & Public Relations
Build relationships with local, national, and international media
Draft press releases and coordinate interviews/media visits
Manage reputation and crisis communications

Establish communications systems (templates, archives, approvals, tracking)
Maintain photo/video library with consent documentation

Coordinate internal updates/newsletters

Qualifications, Experience & Core Competencies
Bachelor’s degree in Communications, PR, Marketing, or related field (Master’s preferred)
Minimum 5 years’ experience in communications, fundraising, or external relations in nonprofit, conservation, or development sectors
Experience developing communication strategies and managing donor communications
Excellent writing, editing, and storytelling skills
Proficiency in digital platforms and tools (CMS, Canva, Mailchimp, Hootsuite, Google Analytics)
Experience in photography, video production, or commissioning multimedia content is an asset
Strong interpersonal skills, cultural sensitivity, and donor/media engagement ability
Highly organised with attention to detail and ability to manage multiple deadlines
