Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and execute testing and commissioning activities for Solar PV projects.
  • Check and verify installation of DC and AC electrical systems before energization.
  • Carry out testing of PV modules, strings, string combiner boxes, inverters, LT panels, HT panels, transformers and cables.
  • Perform insulation resistance, continuity, polarity and earth resistance tests.
  • Coordinate string testing, IV curve testing and module/string performance checks.
  • Conduct testing of HT equipment such as VCB, RMU, transformer, CT/PT and protection relays.
  • Check protection relay settings and coordinate with the testing agency/client for relay testing.
  • Supervise cable testing, including IR, VLF/Hi-Pot and continuity tests as applicable.
  • Support transformer testing, pre-commissioning checks and energization.
  • Coordinate with the grid utility/client for synchronization and grid charging.
  • Carry out inverter commissioning, parameter setting and grid synchronization.
  • Verify SCADA, monitoring system, meters and communication signals.
  • Prepare testing and commissioning checklists, test reports and commissioning documents.
  • Identify electrical faults during pre-commissioning and coordinate with the construction team for rectification.
  • Ensure all testing activities are carried out as per approved drawings, specifications, OEM recommendations and safety procedures.
  • Coordinate with EPC, OEM, electrical contractor, client and utility teams during commissioning.
  • Support trial run, performance testing and final handover of the plant.

Required Skills

  • Good knowledge of Solar PV electrical systems and HT/LT systems.
  • Knowledge of string inverters and central inverters.
  • Understanding of electrical protection systems and relay coordination.
  • Ability to read SLD, electrical drawings and cable schedules.
  • Knowledge of testing instruments such as Megger, earth tester, multimeter, clamp meter, relay test kit and IV curve tracer.
  • Good troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage site teams and coordinate with multiple agencies.
  • Good knowledge of electrical safety and LOTO procedures
