JOB PURPOSE: The incumbent will be responsible for the overall management, coordination, and monitoring of health programs including integrated primary health care, sexual and reproductive health (SRH), nutrition, and immunization services with a particular focus on improving polio vaccination coverage in hard-to-reach areas in Borno state. The role will provide technical guidance and support to field teams to strengthen program quality, improve data collection and analysis, and ensure the timely preparation of accurate reports. The incumbent will also coordinate closely with the State Ministry of Health, particularly the Expanded Program on Immunization (EPI) Department on immunization-related matters and other primary health care priorities. RESPONSIBILITIES: In collaboration with the Program Manager, Medical Coordinator, and relevant team members, support the planning, implementation and monitoring of medical activities in line with INTERSOS project plans, mission strategy, technical standards, and protocols. Contribute to annual planning processes, budget reviews, project proposal development, and donor reporting. Supervise Medical Activity Managers to promote a harmonized program approach and high-quality medical service delivery across all projects. Monitor the quality, progress and outcomes of medical activities, and promptly report analyses, implementation challenges, gaps, and emerging humanitarian health concerns to the Medical Coordinator and relevant coordination team members. In coordination with the Medical Coordinator, establish and maintain constructive working relationships with donors, local authorities, implementing partners, health actors, project stakeholders, and other organizations operating in target areas. Actively participate in relevant field-level and intersectoral coordination meetings, including Expanded Program on Immunization (EPI) and other health-sector coordination platforms. Establish and maintain effective working relationships with the State Ministry of Health, particularly the EPI Department, and provide technical guidance and support to field medical teams to expand immunization coverage in hard-to-reach areas, in accordance with donor and State Ministry of Health guidelines. Coordinate, supervise, coach, support, and evaluate medical team members to strengthen staff capacity, improve the quality of medical project components, and ensure compliance with INTERSOS standards and procedures. In close coordination with the Human Resources Department, plan and oversee the recruitment, induction, training, performance management, professional development, and internal and external communication of medical staff to ensure appropriate staffing levels and competencies. Conduct regular monitoring visits to project locations to verify that activities are implemented in accordance with donor requirements, approved workplans, and INTERSOS quality standards. Review monthly Health Management Information System (HMIS) data to ensure accuracy, completeness, reliability, and consistency, and share key findings, project progress, and emerging challenges with senior management. Support the Medical Coordinator in planning and organizing health-awareness events, including World Polio Day and other relevant observance days, to raise awareness of polio and other vaccine-preventable diseases. Compile high-quality donor reports and ensure their timely submission to the Medical Coordinator and Grants Unit. Education & Professional Requirements: Education: Advanced university degree in medicine MBSS or other paramedical studies. Desirable specialization in Tropical Medicine or a master’s degree in public health Professional requirements: Minimum 5 years relevant work experience as a senior managerial with any humanitarian organization in fragile and unstable environments Candidates with previous experience of managing polio immunization programs will be preferred Essential computer literacy (word, excel and internet) Demonstrate experience with different donors’ compliance and reporting.
