- The Technical Field Support Officer will support the rollout, installation, configuration, maintenance, and technical support of a hardware-dependent solution across multiple sites. The role is responsible for ensuring that deployed hardware, peripheral equipment, connectivity components, and related systems are operational, properly maintained, and supported throughout the implementation and post-deployment support period. The analyst will provide hands-on field support, troubleshoot technical issues, train users, maintain asset records, coordinate with vendors and site teams, and ensure that service disruptions are resolved promptly and professionally.
Job Description
Hardware Deployment and Site Installation
- Support the deployment, installation, configuration, testing, and commissioning of hardware devices at assigned sites.
- Conduct pre-deployment checks to confirm site readiness, including power, connectivity, space, security, and user availability.
- Install and configure project hardware, including computers, tablets, printers, scanners, biometric devices, routers, switches, power backup units, and other approved equipment.
- Ensure all installed devices are tested, tagged, documented, and handed over in line with approved procedures.
- Support hardware movement, relocation, replacement, and retrieval during the rollout and operational support phases.
Technical Support and Maintenance
- Provide first-line and second-line technical support to users and site teams.
- Diagnose and resolve hardware faults, connectivity issues, peripheral failures, power-related problems, and user-reported incidents.
- Carry out routine preventive maintenance to ensure deployed equipment remains functional, secure, and reliable.
- Coordinate repairs, replacements, warranty claims, and vendor support for faulty or defective equipment.
- Escalate unresolved technical issues to the appropriate internal teams or external service providers.
User Support and Training
- Provide hands-on guidance to users on proper operation of deployed devices and related systems.
- Train users on basic troubleshooting, safe handling of equipment, care of devices, and reporting procedures.
- Prepare simple user guides, support notes, checklists, and frequently asked questions where required.
- Promote responsible use, safeguarding, and accountability for deployed hardware.
Asset Management and Documentation
- Maintain an accurate register of all hardware, accessories, spares, consumables, and assigned equipment.
- Record serial numbers, site locations, assigned users, deployment dates, maintenance history, and equipment status.
- Prepare installation reports, site visit reports, maintenance reports, incident logs, and handover documentation.
- Support audits, asset verification, stock reconciliation, and reporting on deployed equipment.
Connectivity, Power, and Field Operations Support
- Support basic network setup and troubleshooting, including routers, switches, access points, modems, LAN, Wi-Fi, and internet connectivity.
- Liaise with network providers, site representatives, and technical teams to resolve connectivity challenges.
- Identify and report power-related issues affecting hardware performance, including unstable power, lack of backup, cabling risks, or surge protection gaps.
- Participate in nationwide field visits and provide technical feedback to improve rollout planning and support processes.
Compliance, Security, and Quality Assurance
- Ensure installations comply with approved technical standards, security requirements, and project procedures.
- Support basic device security measures, including password controls, access restrictions, updates, endpoint protection, and safe handling of data.
- Report equipment misuse, loss, theft, damage, tampering, or unauthorized relocation.
- Conduct post-installation checks to confirm that sites are fully operational and ready for service delivery.

- A degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Telecommunications, Electrical/Electronic Engineering, or a related field.
- At least 3-5 years' experience in technical support, hardware maintenance, field operations, IT support, or technology deployment.
- Practical experience supporting hardware-dependent solutions across multiple sites.
- Experience in large-scale rollout projects, government systems, access control systems, biometric systems, POS systems, field service operations, or distributed technology environments will be an added advantage.
- Relevant professional certifications (e.g. CompTIA A+, Network+, CCNA, Microsoft certification, ITIL Foundation, or equivalent will be an added advantage
