- The Technical Team Lead is responsible for supervising, coordinating, and providing technical direction to the company's field engineers and technicians. The role involves ensuring that installations, maintenance, repairs, surveys, network deployments, and other technical activities are completed efficiently, safely, and in accordance with the company's technical standards.
- The Team Lead will also monitor field performance, troubleshoot technical issues, allocate jobs to engineers, and ensure timely resolution of customer and network-related technical issues.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Operations:
- Supervise and coordinate the daily activities of field engineers and technicians.
- Plan and allocate installation, maintenance, survey, repair, and troubleshooting jobs.
- Ensure all technical jobs are completed within the required timelines.
- Provide technical guidance and support to engineers where necessary.
- Inspect completed installations and ensure they meet company standards.
- Troubleshoot complex technical and network-related problems.
- Ensure proper deployment and maintenance of fibre, wireless, radio, and related network infrastructure.
- Ensure technical equipment and tools are properly used and maintained.
- Monitor the attendance, punctuality, productivity, and conduct of technical staff.
- Assign responsibilities and monitor individual team performance.
- Conduct regular briefings with engineers and technicians.
- Identify skill gaps and recommend training where necessary.
- Ensure team members comply with company policies, technical procedures, and safety requirements.
- Escalate persistent performance or disciplinary issues to Management/HR.
Installation & Maintenance:
- Supervise FTTH/FTTB/FTTX and other network installations.
- Coordinate preventive and corrective maintenance activities.
- Ensure customer installations are completed promptly and professionally.
- Monitor unresolved installations and ensure they are followed up until completion.
- Ensure faults are properly diagnosed and resolved within agreed timelines.
- Confirm that required materials, tools, and equipment are available before deployment.
Technical Surveys & Projects:
- Review and approve technical survey reports before submission to Management.
- Ensure accurate measurements, route planning, feasibility assessments, and technical documentation.
- Participate in major network deployment and infrastructure projects.
- Monitor project progress and report delays or technical challenges promptly.
- Ensure projects are delivered according to approved specifications and timelines.
- Work closely with the Inventory / Procurement Officer to ensure engineers have the required materials and equipment.
- Identify anticipated material shortages and communicate requirements promptly.
- Ensure technical tools and equipment are properly accounted for.
- Report damaged, missing, or defective equipment immediately.
- Ensure company equipment is not misused or negligently handled.
Reporting & Documentation:
- Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly technical reports.
- Monitor job completion and outstanding technical issues.
- Maintain accurate records of installations, repairs, faults, surveys, and maintenance activities.
- Provide Management with timely reports on technical operations and challenges.
- Ensure engineers submit complete and accurate job reports.
Customer Service & Escalation:
- Assist in resolving technical complaints escalated by the Customer Service/Business Development teams.
- Ensure customer technical issues are treated promptly.
- Coordinate with other departments to resolve service delivery issues.
- Escalate serious or recurring technical problems to Management with recommended solutions.
Health, Safety & Compliance:
- Ensure engineers comply with all applicable safety procedures while working on sites.
- Ensure appropriate safety equipment is used during field operations.
- Conduct or facilitate site risk assessments where necessary.
- Ensure technical activities comply with company policies and applicable regulatory requirements.
