Job Summary

The role is responsible for developing and implementing strategies to aid Dangote Cement Plc in complying with tax legislation.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Accurately preparing and filing federal and state tax returns in a timely manner.
  • Developing and implementing tax planning strategies to optimize the organization's tax position while maintaining compliance.
  • Identifying tax problems and developing solutions.
  • Coordinating and managing tax audits, investigations, and assessments by tax authorities
  • Completing responses to tax queries and objections.
  • Reviewing tax computations, returns and payment to ensure timely filing
  • Overseeing tax accounting and tax reporting in accordance with applicable accounting standards and regulatory requirements
  • Conducting periodic tax health checks and ensuring adequate controls are in place to mitigate tax risks
  • Monitoring changes in tax legislation and advising management on their impact on the business
  • Reviewing contracts and business transactions to identify tax implications and recommend tax-efficient structures.
  • Review and assess related party transactions to ensure compliance with transfer pricing regulations, tax laws, and company policies
  • Providing advisory, training and guidance to internal stakeholders on tax compliance requirements
  • Supervising members of the tax team to ensure that tax returns are completed correctly.

Key Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or its equivalent in Accounting or related discipline.
  • Relevant professional accounting qualification such as. ACA, ACCA etc.
  • Minimum of (10) years relevant work experience.
  • Big 4 experience is an advantage

Skills and Competencies

  • Proven experience as a tax manager or similar role
  • Strong knowledge of tax legislation, particularly corporate taxation, indirect taxation, transfer pricing and tax administration
  • Extensive knowledge of tax legislation.
  • Ability to manage tax audits and regulatory engagements
  • Proficient in SAP, Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving and communication skills.
