  • Coordinate individual and group Swimming lessons.

Core Responsibilities and Key Result Areas

  • Conduct initial assessments for new students and provide monthly progress reports to parents or adult learners.
  • Utilize modern drills to improve techniques in Freestyle, Backstroke, Breaststroke, and Butterfly.
  • Maintain constant 100% visual surveillance of the pool area during lessons.
  • Coach should be CPR Certified.
  • Complete all assigned digital training modules via the Safety Culture platform regarding pool safety and facility protocols.
  • Ensure all swimming aids (kickboards, noodles,) are organized and safely stored after each session.
  • Coordinating and conducting individual and group Swimming lessons.
  • Developing suitable training programs based on age, objectives, and individual skill level.
  • Making sure that all health and safety regulations are adhered to.

Job Purpose: A school Swimming Coach instructs students in proper swimming techniques, emphasizes the importance of water safety, and cultivates a supportive yet competitive atmosphere. Ensure the safety standards are met and life-saving standards are followed in all swimming sessions. Showcase deep knowledge and passion for swimming while clearly explaining techniques to pupils, ensuring both understanding and enthusiasm in their learning. Maintain logs of emergency drills and safety checks. Coordinate with the Head of PE and other staff on scheduling and events. Monitor and organise swimming materials Evaluate sessions and give feedback to the Deputy Head Teacher Stay updated with modern coaching techniques and safety protocols and to attend relevant courses, disseminating the information to colleagues Support with identifying training needs for pupils in the swim squad and facilitate appropriate training sessions Provide parents with information regarding the subject at parents' conference and correspond with parents whose children are at swim squad Supervise the Lifeguard during swim sessions and be responsible for administering first aid around the pool Ensure that the swimming pool is in good condition and the chlorine levels are always checked Regularly assess each child's swimming ability and progress and arrange to award children with the appropriate swimming certification To attend regular meetings with the Head of PE and carry out administrative work as and when necessary To undertake other duties in connection with the subject in the school which the Deputy Head Teacher and Head Teacher may from time to time require. Qualifications OND or Bachelor's degree in Human Kinetic/Health Education, Physical Education or related field is preferred. Certified Swimming Instructor, CPR, and First Aid Lifeguarding qualification Knowledge of computer software programmes, such as MS Office Work Experience Minimum of Three (3) years of relative experience Skills and Competencies Self-motivated with the ability to encourage learners through a positive outlook, perseverance and patience. Excellent communication and customer service skills Enthusiasm for student development, proactive problem-solving. Ability to contribute effectively to a small team environment Awareness of the importance of health and safety Competitive swimming experience
