Sustainability Officer At Kenya Development Corporation

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Lead and coordinate in implementing and tracking activities under the KDC Sustainability and Green Financing Strategies and implementation matrix.
• Assist in preparing sustainability performance reports, dashboards, advisories and presentations for management and the Board.
• Support the collection, verification and preparation of information required for sustainability reporting and disclosures, including GRI Standards and IFRS S1/S2.
• Assist with monitoring progress against KDC's sustainability KPIs and implementation timelines.
• Support stakeholder engagements, workshops, sustainability awareness activities and meetings with development partners and other stakeholders.Assist in maintaining documentation and evidence required for sustainability reporting, audits and assurance.
• Support research on emerging ESG, climate finance, green finance and sustainability regulatory requirements relevant to KDC.
• Support climate-risk assessments, climate adaptation planning and portfolio resilience analysis in line with evolving climate disclosure requirements.
• Assist in tracking operational and financed emissions, portfolio carbon footprints and climate-transition metrics.
• Support implementation and continuous improvement of KDC's Environmental and Social Management System (ESMS).
• Mainstream adoption of IFRS S1 and IFRSS2 in the corporation.
• Assist in environmental and social due diligence processes, including review of ESDD and ESIA reports, screening of proposed investments, and monitoring of Environmental and Social Action Plan (ESAP) implementation.
• Support collection and maintenance of ESG, climate, environmental and social data from KDC and its investment portfolio.
• Assist in monitoring green portfolio classification, sustainable finance indicators, climate-risk screening and climate-related investment opportunities.
• Support collection and analysis of portfolio ESG performance data and preparation of periodic ESG monitoring reports.
• Support environmental and social compliance monitoring of investee companies, including implementation of ESAPs, ESIA commitments and other sustainability requirements.
• Assist in tracking KDC's Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions, energy, water, waste and other operational sustainability indicators.
• Support implementation of internal initiatives by supporting sustainability champions and staff sensitization with a focus on waste management, energy efficiency, paper reduction and sustainability communication nuggets
• Perform any other ESG and sustainability-related duties assigned by the Supervisor

Key Qualifications.

• Bachelor's degree in Sustainability, Environmental Science, Development Studies, Finance, Economics, Business, Natural Resource Management or a related field.
• 3 - 4 years' experience in sustainability reporting, ESG, environmental management, climate finance, development finance or a related area.
• Knowledge of ESG, green finance and sustainability reporting.
• Familiarity with GRI, IFRS S1/S2, TCFD, climate risk, ESG due diligence and sustainablefinance taxonomies will be an advantage.
• Good in data collection and analytics, research, report-writing, reporting and coordination skills.
• Strong Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel and PowerPoint
