- The Subsea SURF Lead will provide technical leadership across subsea and SURF engineering, installation readiness, project interfaces and commissioning support. The role will translate client and project requirements into technically complete and controlled deliverables, ensuring that engineering packages, installation methods, technical queries, changes and verification activities are properly managed and traceable.
- The role will coordinate multidisciplinary technical teams and interfaces across engineering, fabrication, marine, installation, commissioning, suppliers and clients, while maintaining a strong focus on technical assurance, HSEQ, asset integrity, schedule and commercial outcomes.
- The successful candidate will bring sound engineering judgement, strong offshore experience and the ability to identify and resolve technical and execution risks before they affect project delivery.
Subsea/SURF Technical Leadership & Engineering Delivery
- Set and maintain the technical basis for assigned subsea/SURF scope and translate project requirements into controlled technical deliverables.
- Review engineering deliverables, calculations, assumptions, technical interfaces and design comments through to closure.
- Establish appropriate technical review and acceptance gates for assigned packages.
- Coordinate technical input from subsea engineers, installation engineers and project specialists.
- Ensure technical recommendations and acceptance decisions remain within approved authority,
- competence and verification requirements.
Installation Readiness & Offshore Execution
- Establish and maintain installation readiness requirements for assigned subsea/SURF scope.
- Ensure installation methods, supporting documentation, equipment, vessels and personnel interfaces are adequately prepared before execution.
- Review permits, lifting/handling requirements, weather assumptions, operational constraints and contingency considerations.
- Identify and escalate readiness blockers before they become safety, quality, execution or schedule issues.
- Hold or recommend release of installation readiness based on documented evidence and applicable
- approval requirements.
Interface, Technical Query & Change Management
- Manage technical interfaces across engineering, fabrication, marine, project delivery, installation,
- commissioning, suppliers and clients.
- Lead timely, evidence-based responses to technical queries, field discoveries, deviations and proposed design changes.
- Assess technical and delivery impacts before recommending a disposition.
- Maintain interface, TQ and change registers with clear ownership, decisions and closure status.
- Escalate matters requiring Technical Authority, Commercial, Legal, client or other required approval.
HSEQ, Quality & Technical Assurance
- Ensure applicable engineering, installation, HSEQ, quality and technical assurance requirements are consistently applied.
- Coordinate inspection, testing and verification evidence relevant to assigned scope.
- Track NCRs, incidents and quality actions through to closure.
- Maintain visibility of stop/hold conditions and escalate where required.
- Ensure safety, quality, integrity and control requirements are not overridden by schedule, client or commercial pressure.
Technical Leadership, Reporting & Continuous Improvement
- Coordinate subsea engineers, installation engineers, project specialists and available technical resources in line with approved project priorities.
- Provide technical guidance and coaching through design reviews, field issues and execution challenges.
- Report package progress, installation readiness, technical queries, changes, risks and key decisions using traceable evidence.
- Monitor technical scope against approved budget and schedule assumptions.
- Convert project experience and execution feedback into lessons learned, improved methods and technical capability.
- Bachelor's degree in Subsea Engineering, Offshore Engineering, Ocean Engineering, Mechanical
- Engineering, Civil/Structural Engineering, Petroleum Engineering or another relevant Engineering discipline.
- Relevant professional or technical certification in subsea engineering, offshore engineering, SURF, installation or project engineering is an advantage.
- Relevant technical training in offshore installation, subsea systems, HSEQ, technical assurance and project delivery is desirable.
- 8 - 12 years of relevant engineering/project experience, with significant exposure to subsea, SURF, offshore installation or subsea project delivery.
- Demonstrated experience leading or coordinating subsea/SURF engineering packages, installation activities, commissioning support or offshore/site execution.
- Practical experience managing engineering deliverables, calculations, technical bases, design reviews and comment closure.
- Experience coordinating interfaces across engineering, fabrication, marine, installation, commissioning, suppliers, project delivery and clients.
- Demonstrated experience managing technical queries, deviations, field discoveries, design changes and technical dispositions.
