We are currently looking to engage a highly competent and result-oriented Specialist, IT Operations with strong personal & professional integrity to join our dynamic team.
The Specialist, IT Operations will be responsible for installing, configuring and maintaining the University\'s CCTV/security camera systems and network infrastructure, keeping surveillance running reliably and the network secure and stable across all sites. He/she will respond quickly to faults and outages, diagnosing and resolving connectivity, video feed and hardware issues on-site and remotely, and advise on equipment purchases and system upgrades.
- Install, configure and maintain IP CCTV cameras, NVRs and related hardware across sites.
- Set up and manage video management software (VMS), remote viewing, recording schedules and storage.
- Install, configure and troubleshoot network equipment including routers, switches, access points and firewalls.
- Run, terminate and test structured cabling (Cat6 and fibre), including PoE setups.
- Monitor system health, perform routine maintenance and replace faulty equipment.
- Diagnose and resolve connectivity, video feed and hardware issues on-site and remotely.
- Apply firmware updates and security best practices, including changing default passwords and restricting remote access.
- Maintain accurate documentation of network layouts, camera locations, device credentials and configurations.
- Support access control, alarm and intercom integrations where applicable.
- Advise on equipment purchases and system upgrades.
Qualification & Experience
- Bachelor\'s degree or HND in Computer Science, Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Information Technology, Telecommunications or any related field.
- Minimum of 3 - 5 years\' relevant experience installing, configuring and maintaining CCTV/IP camera systems and network infrastructure.
- Professional networking certification such as CompTIA Network+ or Cisco CCNA.
- Demonstrated experience with structured cabling, network troubleshooting and the use of testing tools.
- Strong knowledge of networking fundamentals: TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS, subnetting, VLANs and PoE.
- Familiarity with common CCTV brands (e.g., Hikvision, Dahua, Axis, Uniview) and networking brands (e.g., Cisco, Ubiquiti, TP-Link).
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail and accurate documentation.
- Good communication skills, able to explain technical issues to non-technical staff.
