Reports To: Head of School / Special Education Coordinator

JOB SUMMARY

We are seeking a skilled, compassionate and committed Special Education Teacher to support pupils with diverse learning and developmental needs within an inclusive primary school environment.

The successful candidate will work closely with pupils, classroom teachers, parents and other professionals to develop and implement individualised learning programmes and interventions that address each pupil\'s strengths, needs and educational goals.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor\'s degree or equivalent qualification in Special Education, Education, Psychology, Occupational Therapy, Speech and Language Therapy or a related field.
  • Recognised teaching qualification/certification is an advantage.
  • Experience working with children with autism and/or specific learning difficulties.
  • Knowledge of IEP development, implementation and review.
  • Understanding of data collection and progress monitoring.
  • Knowledge of differentiated instruction and evidence-informed intervention strategies.
  • Ability to develop measurable and functional learning goals.
  • Strong observation, documentation and communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with teachers, parents and multidisciplinary teams.
  • Basic competence in using digital tools for documentation and learning support.

DESIRABLE EXPERIENCE

  • Experience or training in any of the following would be an advantage:
  • Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA) principles.
  • Structured teaching.
  • Visual supports and visual schedules.
  • Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC).
  • Functional communication training.
  • Behaviour support and positive behaviour strategies.
  • Assessment and progress monitoring.
  • Early intervention.
  • Social skills development.
  • Functional literacy and numeracy.
  • Assistive technology.
