About the Role As a Software Engineer within the AI team, you'll work on projects exploring how artificial intelligence, machine learning and large language models can improve existing processes and create new capabilities. You'll be involved in researching emerging AI technologies, building proofs of concept, testing solutions and developing practical AI-powered applications. Working primarily with Python and Java , you'll help design and implement solutions using modern development tools and cloud technologies, including AWS and Docker. This is a hands-on engineering opportunity suited to someone who is technically capable, naturally curious and comfortable exploring new ideas. Key Responsibilities AI Research & Development Research and evaluate emerging artificial intelligence tools, technologies and development methodologies. Experiment with large language models (LLMs), including GPT-based technologies. Assess AI tools for performance, accuracy and practical business applications. Identify opportunities to use AI to improve processes and create business value. Build proofs of concept to test the feasibility of new technologies. Contribute to the development of practical AI and machine learning applications. Software Engineering & Development Design, develop and implement AI-powered software solutions. Write clean, maintainable and modular code using Python and Java . Develop and test software components that support AI-related functionality. Work with modern cloud technologies, including AWS . Use containerisation technologies such as Docker . Apply software engineering best practices to ensure code quality and maintainability. Troubleshoot technical issues and improve solution performance. Collaboration & Continuous Improvement Work collaboratively with the AI team to develop and refine technical solutions. Participate in Agile development practices. Contribute ideas and technical insights during project discussions. Experiment with new tools and approaches to solve business challenges. Support the evaluation and improvement of AI prototypes. Stay informed about developments in artificial intelligence, machine learning and software engineering. Take ownership of assigned development tasks and contribute to team objectives. What You'll Bring Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology , or equivalent practical experience. Strong programming skills in Python and Java . Experience with, or a genuine interest in, artificial intelligence tools and large language models. Familiarity with AI technologies such as ChatGPT and GPT-based models . Understanding of software development principles and clean coding practices. Familiarity with source control and CI/CD tools such as GitHub or GitLab . Ability to develop, test and troubleshoot software solutions. An interest in emerging technologies and their practical business applications. Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills. Ability to work independently while contributing effectively to a team. A proactive, self-motivated approach to work. Willingness to experiment, learn quickly and explore unfamiliar technologies. Strong work ethic and attention to detail. Comfortable working in an Agile, collaborative development environment.
