  • Working as a global team, all Girls Not Brides' team members may from time to time be expected to work outside normal working hours (e.g., early morning or early evening) this is
  • not a regular occurrence and is only to accommodate collaboration of teams across different time zones. This role may require some international travel, as necessary

Salary range

  • Market competitive based on a detailed survey by the Birches Group of comparable national NGO salaries in selected location. Payments will be made in local currency of where it is located.

Contract

  • This is a fixed term contract for 2 years. The successful candidate must have the right to work in the country that they are based in at the time of applying, and for the full duration of the two-year contract.

KEY RESPONSIBILTIES

Social media and digital audience engagement

  • Develop and implement social media strategies, plans and approaches, translating communications strategies and plans into effective social media activity that supports external engagement and organisational goals.
  • Develop and deliver tailored social media plans, calendars, scheduling, and content (copy/visuals) aligned to organisational brand, messaging, moments, key audiences, and priorities.
  • Contribute to regular audience mapping and analysis with colleagues across external engagement, feeding in insights from social media performance, trends, and opportunities.
  • Work closely with the Senior Digital Communications Officer to ensure aligned digital journeys for key audiences based on channel insights and performance.
  • Monitor and evaluate social media performance, using data, audience insight and trends to continuously improve audience engagement and inform adaptation of social media approaches.
  • Manage day-to-day social media activity independently, proactively monitoring key audiences and identifying and acting on emerging opportunities within agreed priorities and escalating issues where appropriate.
  • Works proactively with colleagues across teams to integrate timely and strategic social media approaches in planning for key moments, campaigns, launches, and other activities.
  • Work collaboratively with media and communications colleagues to identify and respond to relevant breaking news, emerging opportunities, and organisational priorities through timely social media activity, using judgement to determine appropriate approaches and escalating where required.

Digital communications and creative content

  • Produce engaging, high-quality multimedia content, communications materials and collateral, including graphics, videos, photography and other communications assets that support organisational priorities, publications, and influencing moments.
  • Develop creative concepts and narrative approaches for content that translate organisational priorities into compelling content across digital channels, publications, campaigns and influencing moments.
  • Apply editorial judgement to ensure all multimedia content is accurate, inclusive, accessible and aligned with organisational messaging, visual brand identity, and ethical storytelling principles.
  • Work collaboratively with communications colleagues to develop approaches that strengthen written content, media opportunities, publications and other communications outputs through multimedia storytelling.
  • Identify and maintain a bank of independent creative suppliers and partners, including designers, illustrators, photographers, videographers and other content producers, coordinating commissioning, contracting and delivery within agreed projects and budgets.
  • Ensure visual consistency and adherence to brand standards across communications outputs and provide visual guidance and support to colleagues across the Communications Team and wider organisation where appropriate.

Communications Team engagement

  • Work closely and collaboratively with other communications team colleagues to deliver integrated communications.
  • Work collaboratively as part of cross-functional project teams, partnering with colleagues across the organisation to support the development of communications plans, approaches, and content gathering aligned to organisational priorities.
  • Support report design and visual presentation of organisational materials.
  • Support the maintenance of communications assets, content libraries, and editorial resources to support efficient content production and knowledge management.
  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of Communications Team content calendars and forward planning processes, ensuring social media activity, multimedia content and creative production are coordinated with wider communications priorities and key moments.
  • Contribute to the Communications Team planning, learning, and connection, contributing to a high-performing, cross-geography team.
  • Undertake monitoring and evaluation to inform and support learning and improved audience engagement over time.
  • Contribute to other cross-team communications activities as required.

  • Support copywriting, proofreading and translation of communications outputs across our core languages as required

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

Essential

  • Experience in digital communications, social media communications, or related fields in the not-for-profit sector, an international /intergovernmental organisation, a social movement, or social enterprise.
  • Demonstrable experience developing and delivering social media content and approaches across multiple platforms, with an understanding of how content should be adapted for different audiences and channels.
  • Experience creating engaging content, including graphics, video, photography, multimedia assets and written content.
  • Experience using audience insight, analytics and performance data to inform content planning and improve engagement.
  • Experience applying brand guidelines and visual communication principles across a range of communications materials and platforms.
  • Strong social media planning skills across platforms such as LinkedIn, Facebook, YouTube, and Instagram, and experience using social media scheduling and monitoring tools.
  • Strong graphic design and visual storytelling skills.
  • Experience using Adobe Creative Cloud Suite, Canva, CapCut, or similar design and video editing tools.
  • Strong understanding of branding, accessibility, audience engagement and platform-specific content requirements.
  • Ability to manage multiple creative projects and deadlines.

Desirable

  • Experience working within thematic areas of child marriage, girls' education, sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR), and related fields.
  • Experience with video production, photography or animation.
  • Experience designing reports, publications or long-form communications materials.
  • Proficiency in additional languages, especially French and Spanish.
  • Experience living and/or working in Asia, Africa, and/or Latin America & the Caribbean.
