UMAA is seeking to employ a qualified and experienced person for the position of Senior Project Engineer – Underground Mining.

Position - Senior Project Engineer – Underground Mining
Reporting to the Project Manager / Technical Services Manager, the Senior Project Engineer provides technical, operational and commercial leadership for underground hard-rock mining projects, coordinating development, infrastructure, contractual obligations, cost control, reporting and business improvement.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Coordinate underground development projects, including declines, levels, crosscuts, ore drives, accesses and escapeways, against approved schedules and mining sequences.

Review mine designs, survey set-outs, excavation profiles, ground support requirements and technical approvals to ensure work-front readiness.

Coordinate development drill-and-blast activities, monitor advance, excavation quality, overbreak, underbreak and rework.

Coordinate ground support verification and underground services, including ventilation, dewatering, pumping, compressed air, water and electrical installations.

Coordinate labour, equipment, materials, contractors and specialist departments to meet project targets safely and efficiently.

Monitor revenue, expenditure, contract compliance, variations, claims, accruals and cost-to-complete forecasts.

Desired Qualifications, Skills & Experience
Bachelor’s Degree in Mining Engineering or a closely related engineering discipline.

Minimum of seven (7) years’ relevant mining engineering experience, including substantial underground hard-rock mine development and project delivery experience.

Experience in underground development, drill-and-blast, ground support, mine services and multidisciplinary project coordination.
