An opportunity is available for an experienced Senior Professional Nurse to join a specialised PICU environment in Johannesburg North. This role is suited to a clinically strong PICU nurse who is confident managing critically ill paediatric patients and supporting high standards of nursing care.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide comprehensive, high-quality nursing care to critically ill paediatric patients in the PICU.
Assess, monitor and manage patients according to their individual clinical needs and prescribed treatment plans.
Recognise changes in patients' conditions and escalate concerns appropriately.
Administer medication and treatments safely and accurately in line with established protocols.
Maintain accurate and comprehensive clinical documentation and patient records.
Ensure compliance with infection prevention, patient safety and quality care standards.
Assist with the coordination and implementation of nursing care within the PICU.
Support junior nursing staff through guidance, clinical support and knowledge sharing.
Work collaboratively with medical practitioners and the multidisciplinary healthcare team.
Contribute to maintaining a professional and efficient PICU environment.
Minimum Requirements:
Degree or Diploma in Nursing.
Current registration with SANC.
Postgraduate qualification in a relevant field.
Minimum of 5 years' experience working within a PICU environment.
Sound knowledge of paediatric critical care nursing practices.
Strong clinical assessment, decision-making and communication skills.
Ability to work effectively in a high-acuity environment and remain calm under pressure.
