Join our expanding People team! We’re hiring a Senior People Partner to help power the people agenda in Kenya M-KOPA’s oldest and largest market with real scope to grow into broader ownership as our team and your experience here grow together.

The Impact

Your work will directly shape how specific parts of Kenya’s business build, retain, and develop their teams. We’ve recently celebrated reaching 10 million customers and are onboarding 10,000 new customers every day across all our markets. You’ll be the partner on the ground translating that growth into real people decisions not managing process, but making the calls that keep teams scaling with the business.

The Opportunity

Commercial People work: This isn’t policy administration you’ll be solving real operational problems (headcount, structure, performance, cost) tied directly to business outcomes, not just HR process

Global recognition: Join a company named a TIME 100 company and recognised by the Financial Times as one of Africa’s fastest-growing companies for five consecutive years (2022–2026)

Real ownership, real growth path: You’ll own a defined client group within Kenya end to end with genuine scope to grow into a Lead People Partner seat as you prove out judgment and impact

Purpose-built culture: M-KOPA’s 2,300+ employees and 35,000+ agents are the backbone of a business built to serve 10 million customers you’ll help keep part of that engine running as it grows

What You’ll Do

At M-KOPA, you’ll partner with business leaders within your client group on workforce decisions that are tied directly to commercial outcomes headcount planning, performance calibration, and org structure that keeps pace with growth. You’ll own employee relations resolution for your client group end to end, with working knowledge of Kenyan employment law to back it. And you’ll support organizational change initiatives restructuring, process redesign, cross-functional delivery.

What You Need

Essential Requirements:

5–8 years of progressive HR/People Partner experience, including direct experience advising business leaders on workforce decisions tied to commercial outcomes, not just policy or process

Working knowledge of Kenyan employment law and the regulatory environment, with direct experience handling employee relations matters end to end

Demonstrated experience contributing to org design, workforce planning, or performance frameworks.

What sets a strong fit apart: we’re looking for someone whose instinct is business-first someone who thinks in terms of commercial trade-offs, risk, and growth rather than process and policy alone. If your strongest stories are about navigating a budget-constrained leader to a people decision, or making a call that served the business even when it wasn’t the textbook HR answer, we want to hear about it.
