Senior Feedlot Manager At Amo Farm Sieberer Hatchery Limited

Job Purpose

• The Senior Feedlot Manager will provide strategic and operational leadership for the feedlot, with overall responsibility for cattle performance, feed efficiency, animal health, operational costs, team performance, and profitability.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee the overall management and performance of the feedlot operation.
• Develop and implement feeding, cattle management, growth, finishing, and dispatch plans.
• Monitor key performance indicators including weight gain, feed conversion, mortality, feed cost, and cost per kilogram of weight gain.
• Work closely with Veterinary and Nutrition teams to maintain optimal animal health, welfare, biosecurity, and feeding programmes.
• Manage feed procurement, quality, storage, utilisation, and wastage.
• Develop and manage the feedlot budget and control operating costs.
• Analyse production and financial performance and implement measures to improve efficiency and profitability.
• Lead, supervise, and develop feedlot staff and ensure achievement of operational targets.
• Ensure proper maintenance of feedlot facilities, equipment, water systems, and infrastructure.
• Maintain accurate production records and prepare regular performance reports for management.
• Ensure compliance with company policies, HSE requirements, animal welfare standards, and regulatory requirements.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives to increase productivity, reduce losses, and improve feedlot profitability.

Requirements

• B.Sc ./ M.Sc. in Animal Science, Animal Production, Veterinary Medicine, Agriculture, or a related field.
• 8 - 12 years' experience in feedlot management, cattle production, or livestock operations, with significant management experience.
• Proven experience managing large-scale cattle/feedlot operations.
• Strong knowledge of cattle nutrition, animal health, welfare, and feedlot production systems.
• Strong understanding of production KPIs, budgeting, cost control, and profitability.
• Excellent leadership, analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and relevant livestock management systems.
