Security Advisor At Amaiden Energy Nigeria

Main Functions

• To provide professional security advice, guidance, and support to the organization in protecting personnel, assets, facilities, information, and business operations against security threats and risks.
• The security advisor will support the development and implementation of effective security strategies, risk assessments, emergency response plans, and security procedures.
• The role will also monitor the security environment, identify emerging threats, and recommend appropriate preventive and corrective measures to maintain a safe and secure working environment.

Responsibilities

• Conduct security risk assessments and threat assessments for company facilities, personnel, operations, and projects.
• Provide expert security advice to management and operational teams on security risks and appropriate mitigation measures.
• Monitor the local and regional security environment and identify emerging threats that may affect company operations.
• Develop, review, and implement security procedures, standards, guidelines, and contingency plans.
• Support the preparation and implementation of Security Management Plans and emergency response procedures.
• Assess security vulnerabilities and recommend practical measures to reduce identified risks.
• Coordinate security arrangements for company personnel, facilities, meetings, events, and business activities.
• Liaise with security contractors and service providers to ensure compliance with company security requirements and standards.
• Monitor the performance of contracted security personnel and provide recommendations for improvement where required.
• Maintain effective relationships with relevant government security agencies, law enforcement authorities, and other external stakeholders.
• Support security investigations involving incidents such as theft, unauthorized access, threats, fraud, misconduct, loss of company property, and other security-related events.
• Prepare security incident reports, risk assessments, security briefs, and management reports.
• Participate in investigations and ensure that appropriate corrective and preventive actions are identified and implemented.
• Coordinate and support emergency response activities during security incidents, crises, or other emergencies.
• Provide security briefings and awareness training to employees, contractors, and visitors where required.
• Promote security awareness and compliance with established security policies and procedures across the organization.
• Conduct regular security inspections and audits of facilities, offices, work sites, accommodation, and other company locations.
• Monitor access control, visitor management, CCTV, alarm systems, perimeter protection, and other security systems.
• Review security arrangements for personnel movements, transportation, travel, and logistics where applicable.
• Provide security advice for business travel and personnel movements in high-risk or sensitive locations.
• Support the development of journey management and travel security plans.
• Ensure security requirements are incorporated into new projects, facilities, contracts, and operational activities.
• Maintain accurate records of security incidents, investigations, assessments, inspections, and other security activities.
• Analyze security trends and incident data and provide recommendations to management.
• Participate in emergency drills, crisis management exercises, and security simulations.
• Ensure compliance with company policies, applicable laws, regulatory requirements, and recognized security standards.
• Support continuous improvement of the organization's security management system.
• Perform any other security-related duties assigned by the Security Manager or Management.

Job Requirements

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent qualification in security management, Criminology, intelligence/security studies, risk management, Law, military science, or a related discipline.
• Relevant professional security, risk management, or protective security certification will be an advantage.
• Minimum 5 - 8 years of relevant security experience, preferably within the oil & gas, energy, construction, marine, or other high-risk industry.
• Experience in security risk assessment, incident management, investigations, and emergency response.
• Experience managing or supervising security contractors and service providers.
• Good knowledge of security operations, threat assessment, access control, surveillance, and asset protection.
• Experience liaising with government security agencies and other relevant authorities.
• Strong report-writing, analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work effectively under pressure and respond appropriately to security emergencies.
• Good knowledge of applicable security legislation, industry standards, and best practices.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and security reporting systems.

• 10 years of military experience in field operations abroad.
