Our client, a leading South African financial services group, is seeking an experienced SAP BW Developer to design, develop, enhance and support SAP Business Warehouse (BW) solutions, with potential involvement in SAP Profitability and Performance Management (PaPM) and cloud-based solutions.
The successful candidate will translate business requirements into technical solutions, ensure data governance and security, support production stability, and contribute to the ongoing development and modernisation of the BW environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Analyse user requirements, recommend technical designs, and estimate and sequence development activities.
Develop, configure and enhance SAP BW solutions in line with architectural standards, policies and security requirements.
Apply DevOps practices and tools, supporting the organisation's Always On and Always Secure objectives.
Implement data governance, data management and security controls for data at rest and in transit across BW and, where applicable, PaPM environments.
Perform component integration testing, guide testers, support system integration testing and resolve defects.
Plan and execute production deployments, cutovers and migrations.
Contribute to technical architecture, solution design and the BW cloud transformation journey, including cloud-based solutions where applicable.
Investigate and resolve production defects and data reconciliation issues, maintain existing solutions, and support production stability and job automation.
Provide technical guidance, knowledge sharing and skills transfer to the resources.
Participate in SAFe/Agile ceremonies, including PI Planning, stand-ups, Scrum of Scrums, system demos and Inspect and Adapt workshops, as applicable.
Take ownership of allocated stories, provide progress updates and escalate risks and blockers to the relevant leads.
Maintain accurate story and feature status updates in Jira or other project reporting tools.
Deliverables:
Technical designs, development estimates and delivery sequencing for planned features.
Developed and tested SAP BW solutions, including component integration testing results.
Implementation, migration and cutover plans approved by the relevant stakeholders.
Defect fixes and supporting test results to improve production stability and data reconciliation.
Accurate PI, sprint and production planning and delivery against allocated story points.
Regular progress reporting, participation in Agile ceremonies and effective execution of assigned work.
Required Experience and Skills:
Hands-on SAP BW development experience.
Experience translating business requirements into technical designs and working solutions.
Knowledge of software testing, defect resolution, production support and data reconciliation.
Understanding of data governance, data management, security and DevOps practices.
Experience with production deployments, cutover planning and solution maintenance.
Exposure to SAP PaPM and BW cloud migration or cloud-based solutions would be advantageous.
Experience working in a SAFe/Agile environment, including PI and sprint planning.
Familiarity with Jira or similar work and delivery tracking tools
