The Sanitary Inspector is responsible for promoting and maintaining high standards of environmental health, workplace hygiene, food safety, waste management, and sanitation across company facilities and surrounding communities.
The role ensures compliance with public health requirements through routine inspections, environmental monitoring, sample collection, accurate documentation, hygiene education, pest and vector control, and follow-up on corrective actions to protect employee and community health.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Inspect workplaces, communities, kitchens, food establishments, and sanitation facilities.
Monitor waste collection, segregation, and disposal processes.
Ensure proper drainage, sewage systems, and vector control.
Verify compliance with sanitation and public health regulations.
Ensure potable water quality and safe wastewater disposal.
Inspect food vendors for compliance with hygiene practices.
Collect water, food, and environmental samples for laboratory analysis.
Report to OH Coordinator for non-compliance and recommend corrective measures.
Maintain inspection registers, reports, and photographic evidence.
Conduct assessments for rodent, insect, and mosquito breeding areas.
Supervise fumigation, fogging, and pest control activities.
Conduct training on hygiene, sanitation, waste management, and food safety.
Develop posters, SOPs, and awareness materials.
Submit daily/weekly/monthly sanitation reports to OH coordinator
Maintain checklists, records, and compliance documentation.
Key Requirements
Required: Diploma in Sanitary Inspection / Environmental Health / Public Health Technology.
Preferred: B.Sc in Environmental Health or Environmental Science; training in food safety or waste management.
