Abacus

Nairobi, kenya

full-time

This role is as much about judgment, narrative, and relationships as it is about technical depth. Proposals in this market are rarely won on technical merit alone: they are won by a solution story that a client's technical and business stakeholders can believe in, defended by someone the client trusts. The successful candidate will build and own that story, and the relationships behind it, across multiple markets, industries, and stakeholder groups at once, operating independently and owning outcomes end to end. Responsibilities Partner with the Regional Director and account teams to shape client solutions across Abacus's platform portfolio: Google Cloud (Apigee, GCP, Gemini Enterprise) and Devenex, Abacus's proprietary AI Execution Control Plane. Translate early-stage, often loosely defined business opportunities into structured technical proposals, solution architectures, and statements of work. Own the technical narrative in client-facing pitches, translating complex platform capability, including AI governance and execution control concepts, into a business story that resonates with Telco, banking, and government stakeholders. Lead solutioning and proposal writing for RFPs and RFIs, producing content that is original, accurate, commercially sound, and personally defensible in front of a client evaluation panel. Design and articulate AI governance frameworks for clients adopting agentic and AI-driven systems, using Devenex's execution model as the reference architecture. Independently build the commercial costing, or job order costing, for each proposal, and ensure it is reviewed by the correct internal stakeholders, including delivery, finance, legal, and practice leads, before submission. Present and defend proposal content directly with client technical stakeholders, procurement teams, and evaluation committees. Build and maintain deep technical fluency across the Apigee, GCP, Gemini Enterprise, and Devenex platforms, and how each maps to real client environments across SSA markets. Develop a personal network of client technical decision-makers, procurement contacts, delivery stakeholders, and partner contacts across priority markets. Represent Abacus at industry forums, partner briefings, and client workshops across the region, building the region's brand and its bench of technical champions. Support account teams during contract negotiation with technical clarifications, scope definition, and risk input. Required Experience & Skills 5 to 8+ years in pre-sales, solutions engineering, or technical consulting, ideally within a systems integrator, consultancy, or enterprise technology vendor. Working technical knowledge of API management platforms (Apigee or equivalent), cloud infrastructure (Google Cloud strongly preferred), and AI governance or execution control concepts for agentic and AI-driven systems. A demonstrated, personal track record of writing and structuring winning technical proposals and RFP responses, with strong original solutioning ability. Proven ability to build commercial costings and job order pricing for technical proposals independently, and to navigate internal approval processes without close oversight. An excellent, evidenced track record of stakeholder management, across client technical, commercial, and executive audiences, and across internal delivery, finance, and legal functions. Excellent storytelling and communication skills: able to turn technical detail into a business narrative that lands with both C-level and technical audiences. Prior exposure to Telco and/or Banking and Financial Services environments is strongly preferred. Self-driven, with the ability to operate independently and own the full proposal lifecycle end to end, with minimal day-to-day direction. Comfortable operating in a relationship-led, network-dependent commercial environment, of the kind typical of enterprise and government sales cycles in Sub-Saharan Africa. Willingness and ability to travel regularly across SSA markets. Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Business Informatics, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.

23396 Regional Programme Specialist (regional Responses To Climate Displacement (re2clid)) (p)

International Organization for Migration

kenya

full-time

The International Organization for Migration (IOM) is the UN Migration Agency. With 175 member states, it is committed to the principle that humane and orderly migration benefits migrants and society. Established in 1951 and now active in over 400 field locations worldwide, IOM works with partners, governments, and civil society to: 1. Assist in meeting the operational challenges of migration and human mobility; 2. Advance understanding of migration issues; 3. Encourage social and economic development through migration; and 4. Uphold the human dignity and well-being of migrants. Over the past years, IOM has worked closely with national and local authorities and communities across sub-Saharan Africa to address displacement, supporting the planning of and implementation of evacuation measures, the provision of humanitarian assistance to displaced populations, the coordination and management of sites hosting displaced communities, and promoting the achievement of durable solutions. IOM is also at the forefront of efforts to support the mainstreaming of migration into disaster preparedness, disaster response, disaster risk reduction, and climate change adaptation into continental, regional, and national development policies and plans, and actively engages with governments, communities, and local partners to build the resilience of communities to climate change. In May 2023, representatives of the International Organization for Migration (IOM) and the Directorate-General for International Partnerships (DG INTPA) of the European Commission began discussions on an action to be implemented under the Regional Multi-Annual Indicative Plan for Sub-Saharan Africa (RMIP SSA) for 2024, which resulted in the development of the Regional Responses to Climate Displacement in Sub-Saharan Africa programme (RE2CLID) outlining a regional response to climate displacement. The RE2CLID programme seeks to enhance the resilience, self-reliance, and protection of Displacement-Affected Communities (DACs) living in areas at risk of disasters, environmental degradation, and the adverse effects of climate change. The programme operates across two highly vulnerable sub-regional clusters, inclusive of Cluster 1 - the Lake Tanganyika Basin, encompassing Burundi, the Democratic Republic of Congo, and Tanzania, and Cluster 2 - the Southern Africa and South-West Indian Ocean region, including Madagascar, Malawi, Mozambique, Mauritius, Seychelles, and Comoros. The objective of the programme is to improve overall capacity to respond to and increase overall resilience to disaster displacement at the regional level through strategic interventions regionally, nationally, and locally. The action is framed around three main objectives: Strengthen systems that enable us to avert, minimize, and address displacement, and promote effective adaptation and resilience of communities most exposed to displacement risks due to climate hazards; Improve the governance and management of natural resources and agricultural land use in ways that create sustainable livelihoods for displaced and host communities; Help population displaced attain climate resilient durable solutions and enable social cohesion in host and return communities. By addressing the root causes of disaster-induced displacement and fostering inclusive, climate-resilient solutions, RE2CLID aims to reduce vulnerability and enhance long-term resilience in displacement-affected communities.
