Role Description The Real Estate Accountant II is a full-time, on-site role based in Abuja. This position is responsible for preparing and reviewing accounting records for commercial and residential properties, including journal entries, general ledger reconciliations, and monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports. The role involves tracking rental income, service charges, and other property-related revenues, monitoring operating expenses, and ensuring accurate allocation of costs to individual properties or projects. The Real Estate Accountant II will manage accounts payable and receivable for real estate operations, assist with budgeting and forecasting for property portfolios, and support cash flow management. The role also includes ensuring compliance with relevant accounting standards, tax regulations, and internal controls, collaborating with property managers and other stakeholders, and assisting with audits and financial analysis to support investment decisions and performance reviews.
Qualifications
- Candidates should possess strong real estate and property accounting skills, including experience with lease accounting, rent rolls, service charge reconciliations, and property-level financial reporting.
- Candidates should possess solid general accounting and financial management skills, such as proficiency in journal entries, account reconciliations, budgeting, forecasting, and financial statement preparation.
- Candidates should possess competency in using accounting and property management software, as well as strong Microsoft Excel skills for data analysis, modeling, and reporting.
- Candidates should possess knowledge of relevant tax laws, regulatory requirements, and internal control practices that apply to real estate and hospitality operations.
- Candidates should possess analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret financial data, identify variances, and recommend corrective actions.
- Candidates should possess effective communication and collaboration skills to work with property managers, finance colleagues, external auditors, and other stakeholders.
- Candidates should possess strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple properties, deadlines, and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required; a professional accounting certification (such as ACA, ACCA, or equivalent) and prior experience in real estate or hospitality accounting are highly beneficial
