Job Summary
We are seeking a highly analytical and detail-oriented QA Engineer to join our Technology team and take ownership of the quality assurance process across our fintech products and digital platforms.
The QA Engineer will be responsible for testing and validating lending workflows, credit systems, payment transactions, APIs, POS solutions, mobile and web applications, and third-party integrations to ensure that our products are reliable, secure, scalable, and provide a seamless customer experience.
The successful candidate will work closely with Software Engineers,Credit, Operations, Customer Service, and other stakeholders to identify defects, prevent production issues, improve testing processes, and ensure that products meet business and technical requirements before deployment.
Key Responsibilities
Product & Functional Testing:
Develop and execute comprehensive test plans, test cases, test scenarios, and test scripts for fintech products.
Perform functional, regression, integration, system, usability, exploratory, and end-to-end testing.
Test new features, product enhancements, bug fixes, and system changes before deployment.
Validate that products function according to approved business requirements and acceptance criteria.
Conduct cross-browser, cross-device, and responsive testing for web and mobile applications.
Identify edge cases and scenarios that could result in financial, operational, or customer-impacting issues.
Lending & Credit System Testing:
Test the complete loan lifecycle, including: Customer onboarding., KYC and profile creation, Loan application, Eligibility assessment, Credit scoring.
Credit decisioning.
Loan approval/rejection.
Offer generation.
Loan disbursement.
Repayment scheduling.
Repayment processing.
Loan restructuring and modifications.
Delinquency and overdue management.
Loan closure.
Validate credit rules, eligibility criteria, loan limits, interest calculations, fees, penalties, repayment schedules, and other lending parameters.
Test different customer profiles and loan scenarios to ensure accurate credit decisions.
Verify that approved loan amounts and repayment obligations are accurately reflected across relevant systems.
Identify discrepancies between loan records, customer balances, transaction records, and accounting/reconciliation systems.
Test negative scenarios, including duplicate applications, failed disbursements, failed repayments, partial payments, reversals, and duplicate transactions.
Payments & Transaction Testing:
Test payment initiation, processing, confirmation, failure, reversal, refund, and reconciliation workflows.
Validate payment transactions across different payment channels and providers.
Test transaction status updates and ensure accurate synchronization between internal systems and third-party payment platforms.
Verify that successful and failed transactions are correctly reflected in customer wallets, loan accounts, and transaction histories.
Test scenarios involving:
Duplicate transactions.
Failed transactions.
Timeout transactions.
Reversed transactions.
Partial payments.
Overpayments.
Underpayments.
Incorrect transaction references.
Ensure financial transactions maintain data integrity and accuracy throughout the transaction lifecycle.
API & Integration Testing:
Design and execute API test cases using tools such as Postman or equivalent platforms.
Validate REST APIs, request/response structures, status codes, authentication, authorization, and error handling.
Test integrations between internal systems and external service providers.
Validate data passed between lending, payment, credit, customer, POS, and other systems.
Conduct positive and negative API testing.
Verify API response times, reliability, data consistency, and appropriate error messages.
Identify integration failures and work with developers to troubleshoot and resolve issues.
POS Testing:
Test POS onboarding, activation, assignment, and transaction workflows.
Validate POS payment transactions and transaction status updates.
Test successful, failed, reversed, and declined POS transactions.
Validate transaction limits, settlement processes, and transaction records.
Test communication between POS devices, backend services, payment processors, and customer accounts.
Verify that POS transactions are accurately reflected in relevant dashboards and reports.
Support investigation of POS-related production issues.
Mobile & Web Application Testing:
Perform functional and usability testing across mobile and web applications.
Test customer registration, authentication, login, password reset, profile management, loan applications, repayments, payments, notifications, and transaction history.
Test application behaviour across different browsers, operating systems, screen sizes, and supported devices.
Validate user interfaces against approved product designs and requirements.
Identify usability issues that may affect customer adoption or product experience.
Defect Management:
Identify, document, classify, and track software defects using tools such as Jira or similar platforms.
Provide clear reproduction steps, screenshots/logs, expected results, and actual results when reporting defects.
Prioritize defects based on severity and business/customer impact.
Work closely with developers to investigate and resolve defects.
Retest resolved defects and conduct regression testing to ensure fixes have not introduced new issues.
Monitor recurring defects and recommend preventive measures.
Automation & Continuous Testing:
Develop and maintain automated test scripts for critical product workflows.
Identify suitable test cases for automation, particularly repetitive and high-risk financial transactions.
Support the implementation and maintenance of automated testing frameworks.
Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines where applicable.
Continuously improve test coverage and reduce reliance on repetitive manual testing.
Security, Data & Performance Testing:
Conduct basic security testing to identify vulnerabilities in applications and APIs.
Validate authentication, authorization, session management, and access controls.
Ensure that sensitive customer and financial information is appropriately handled.
Conduct basic performance and load testing on critical systems where required.
Identify system bottlenecks, slow API responses, and performance issues that could affect customers or transaction processing.
Release & Production Support:
Participate in sprint planning, backlog refinement, daily stand-ups, and other Agile ceremonies.
Review requirements and acceptance criteria before development begins.
Provide QA input during product development to identify potential risks early.
Perform pre-release testing and provide QA sign-off before production deployment.
Monitor newly released features and support post-release validation.
Investigate production incidents and work with relevant teams to determine root causes.
Maintain proper documentation of test results, release status, defects, and quality reports.
Qualifications & Experience
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
2 - 4 years of experience in Software Quality Assurance, Software Testing, or a related role.
Experience testing fintech, banking, lending, payments, e-commerce, or other transaction-based applications is highly desirable.
Experience testing both web and mobile applications.
Experience with API testing and third-party integrations.
Strong understanding of SDLC and STLC.
Good understanding of Agile/Scrum methodologies.
Experience working with development and product teams in an Agile environment.
