Project Mechanical Engineer (in-house) At Amaiden Energy Nigeria

Main Functions

• We are seeking an experienced Project Mechanical Engineer to join our Facilities Management & Administration team.
• The successful candidate will serve as the Company's in-house mechanical engineering authority, providing technical leadership across the planning, design, construction, supervision, commissioning, and handover of mechanical engineering projects.
• The role will support mechanical projects across Company facilities, ensuring that all works comply with approved specifications, engineering standards, HSE requirements, project schedules, cost and quality objectives, and industry best practices.

Responsibilities

• Lead the development, review, and validation of mechanical designs, calculations, specifications, equipment datasheets, material take-offs, and Bills of Quantities (BOQs).
• Review mechanical systems including HVAC, plumbing, fire water systems, piping, pumping equipment, utility networks, and building services installations.
• Prepare technical requisitions, equipment specifications, tender documents, and other mechanical engineering deliverables.
• Supervise mechanical construction activities and ensure compliance with approved drawings, specifications, quality standards, and HSE requirements.
• Conduct site inspections, identify defects and non-conformances, prepare punch lists, and monitor corrective actions through to close-out.
• Resolve technical queries and construction issues and coordinate mechanical interfaces with other disciplines.
• Plan and monitor mechanical engineering deliverables in line with approved project schedules using Microsoft Project and Primavera.
• Support project planning, budgeting, resource allocation, constructability reviews, risk assessments, technical evaluations, and project execution meetings.
• Participate in technical bid evaluations and review vendor submissions for mechanical equipment and services.
• Provide engineering support during installation, testing, pre-commissioning, commissioning, and handover.
• Review and validate contractor as-built drawings, operation and maintenance manuals, commissioning records, and handover documentation.
• Prepare periodic project progress reports covering project status, risks, constraints, mitigation actions, and key performance indicators.
• Ensure mechanical works comply with Company specifications, applicable Nigerian regulations, international engineering standards, and industry best practices.
• Coordinate effectively with architectural, civil, structural, electrical, HSE, procurement, and operations teams.

Job Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree (B.Eng./B.Sc.) in Mechanical Engineering or an equivalent qualification from a recognized institution.
• 3 - 6 years' relevant experience in engineering consultancy, construction, facilities management, oil & gas, or a related industry.
• Demonstrated experience in mechanical engineering design, project planning, construction supervision, contractor management, commissioning, and maintenance.
• Experience working on multidisciplinary engineering or construction projects.
• Experience coordinating with contractors, consultants, and internal technical and operational stakeholders.
• Professional registration with COREN and membership of the Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE) will be an added advantage.
