Position Scope

  • Reporting to the General Manager-KTDA Power Company (KTPC), the successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing design, construction supervision and commissioning of KTPC projects.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Ensuring KTPC projects are completed on time, within budget and to the required standard;
  • Providing project management services for the company;
  • Ensuring compliance to environmental and regulatory requirements during project development;
  • Supervising, appraising staff and identifying their development and training needs;
  • Participating in the recruitment of staff within the department;
  • Mentoring and coaching staff;
  • Preparing of projects status reports;
  • Reviewing and approving feasibility study reports;

  • Managing the construction and commissioning process;

  • Liaising with the Operations manager to ensure the projects meet all the statutory requirements;
  • Ensuring that the projects meets the required environmental, health and safety, requirements;
  • Participating in the formulation and review of the company's strategic plan;
  • Participating in the review of performance and improvement of the existing plants;
  • Ensuring projects are completed to high standards and within time and budget;
  • Ensuring hydro Projects are well planned, designed and constructed;
  • Ensuring timely payments to contractors and consultants;
  • Ensuring high quality of feasibility studies;
  • Ensuring effective operational cost control of the department's financial resources;

Qualifications / Skills / Experience

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering or related;
  • A post graduate diploma in project management;
  • A minimum of Eight (8) years of relevant experience, 3 of which should be at a senior level in Project Management/ Maintenance;
  • Be registered by the Engineering Board;
  • Must have demonstrated ability to handle departmental budgets, resources, processes, projects and relationships
  • Should have thorough knowledge of the relevant industry/sector as well as knowledge of regulatory requirements affecting the relevant sector
  • Must have ability to plan, organize, implement and evaluate departmental goals
  • Must demonstrate ability to handle multiple and conflicting priorities, and work under strict deadlines.
