Job Summary

  • The Project Manager (State-Based) will lead the planning, coordination, implementation, monitoring, and delivery of a 12-month renewable project within an assigned state.
  • The role serves as the state-level focal point for project implementation, coordinating project teams, stakeholders, partners, resources, and activities to ensure delivery against approved objectives, timelines, budgets, quality standards, and reporting requirements.
  • The Project Manager will oversee the project from mobilisation and implementation through monitoring, reporting, evaluation, and close-out, while managing risks, resolving operational challenges, and maintaining effective stakeholder relationships.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain the state-level project workplan, implementation schedule, milestones, and activity tracker.
  • Lead the day-to-day implementation of project activities and ensure timely achievement of deliverables.
  • Coordinate project teams, resources, vendors, partners, and activities to ensure seamless execution.
  • Monitor project scope, timelines, deliverables, and dependencies and take corrective action where required.
  • Coordinate state-based project teams and provide clear direction on priorities, responsibilities, and deliverables.
  • Serve as the key point of contact between Del-York Group, project teams, partners, government stakeholders, and other relevant stakeholders.
  • Build and maintain effective relationships with government agencies, community organisations, private-sector organisations, vendors, and project partners.
  • Organise and lead project meetings, stakeholder engagements, review sessions, and field activities.
  • Track project progress against agreed milestones, KPIs, outputs, and timelines.
  • Prepare regular project reports highlighting progress, achievements, challenges, risks, and recommendations.
  • Maintain accurate project records, trackers, reports, activity documentation, and evidence of delivery.
  • Identify, assess, and manage project risks, operational challenges, and implementation issues, escalating critical matters appropriately.
  • Monitor project expenditure in collaboration with Finance and ensure activities remain within approved budgets.
  • Ensure compliance with organisational policies, project guidelines, safeguarding requirements, and applicable standards.
  • Monitor the quality and effectiveness of project implementation and recommend improvements where necessary.
  • Support project evaluation, lessons learned, and close-out activities.
  • Perform other responsibilities required to ensure successful project delivery.

Skills and Qualification

  • Bachelor's Degree in Project Management, Business Administration, Social Sciences, Development Studies, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 7 years' relevant experience in project management, with proven experience managing projects from initiation to completion.
  • A well-recognised professional project management certification, such as PMP, PRINCE2, CAPM, or equivalent.
  • Proven experience managing teams, stakeholders, budgets, timelines, risks, and project deliverables.
  • Experience managing projects across multiple locations or within a state-based structure is an advantage.
  • Experience working with government institutions, development organisations, NGOs, international partners, or donor-funded projects is an added advantage.
  • Strong project planning, reporting, stakeholder management, communication, and problem-solving skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office/Google Workspace and project management tools
  • Willingness to travel within the assigned state and other project locations as required.
