Role Purpose:

Coordinate production activities and ensure availability of high-quality products produced at optimum cost in a safe environment by highly motivated staff.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

Production Planning

  • Ensuring that quality finished goods are produced and availed in the warehouse based on Time in Full and Error Free within each shift (both physical and SAP).
  • Liaise with Finished Goods Supervisor to develop a production schedule based on customer requirements.
  • Liaise with RMPM Supervisor to ensure required raw and packing materials are availed to support a smooth execution of the production schedule.
  • Ensure proper shift planning to avail required human resource as per the production plan manage the leave & off liability.
  • Analyzing raw data generated by production teams and creating accurate and timely reports as appropriate (Operations, KPI report, among others).
  • In liaison with Maintenance Supervisor, ensure availability of plant and machinery for proper maintenance.

Production Efficiencies

  • Ensure optimal machine utilization, adhering to the throughputs, and machine capacities as well as efficiencies at >85%.
  • Conduct an onboarding and training for all employees to increase TWI score thus to reduce process variations.
  • Ensure CI (AM/TPM/CBM) activities are done as scheduled to maintain optimal machine performance.
  • Monitor machine performance and conduct root cause analysis where there is gaps and take corrective actions.
  • Ensure production activities are done in line with budgeted cost.
  • Ensure Production KPIs are achieved within quality specifications.

Production Reporting

  • Daily review of production reconciliations to reduce inventory & production variances.
  • Maintaining up to date formulations & ensure timely cost updates for all the materials in SAP.
  • Ensure real time and accurate posting/receipts of raw materials, packing material and finished goods in SAP.
  • Collect and collate data through the month and prepare accurate error free daily, weekly and monthly production reports.
  • Prepare timely and accurate production monthly valuation report following an effective stock take.

People Management

  • Conduct timely onboarding process for the new employees and ensure that they understand all the processes.
  • Plan and improve Operators technical skills within production through the use of Training Within Industry (TWI), Coaching, Mentoring and implementation of Personal Development Plans (PDPs)
  • Oversee work performance of company staff including goal setting, their deployment, performance review, face-to-face discussions, learning & development, staff welfare and ensure adherence to company policies
  • In liaison with HR, prepare and implement employee personal development plans
  • Plan and allocate optimum number of Outsourced labour to achieve set Manpower productivity targets
  • Identify and recognize good performance to improve staff engagement
  • Develop and implement shift plans; manage leave and off days.

Food Safety

  • Ensure FSMS (ISO 22000:2018) and production process controls are practiced and audit citations on the same are closed.
  • Uphold Good Manufacturing programs / procedures, monitoring and auditing and action closure
  • Ensure steady flow of production activities by producing high quality products and adhering to the required specifications.
  • Drive adherence to FSMS through spot checks and timely trainings
  • Identify and address/report all quality and feed safety/ biosecurity issues during daily operations

Safety, Health and Environment (SHE)

  • Promote Safety & Health of all workers and equipment in the production areas.
  • Investigate all near misses, accidents and incidents and ensure timely closure of preventive measures
  • Drive a culture of hazard spotting and elimination of unsafe conditions at production areas
  • Identify unsafe behaviours involving production staff and take appropriate actions
  • Ensure timely SHE audit action closure

Continual Improvement

  • Ensure PaTaMu initiatives and projects are implemented in Production areas leading to Continual Improvement.
  • Ensure employees have a good understanding of Continual Improvement and how the PaTaMu model works.
  • Continuously identify opportunities for improvement within the Production areas
  • Encourage generation and implementation of PaTaMu ideas to drive a culture of innovation and creativity.
  • Drive an effective accountability system in Production through Daily Work Management (DWM).
  • Utilize Daily Standard Work & Leader Standard Work to manage work Any other assigned duties.

Job Requirements

Minimum Requirements:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Animal Health/Production /Engineering/Food Science or related field.
  • Minimum 3 years' experience working in a busy manufacturing environment preferably at supervisory level.
  • Knowledge of ISO 22000 & biosecurity controls are an added advantage.
  • Competent in problem solving, planning and decision-making skills.
  • Computer proficiency.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to maintain confidential information.

Technical Skills Good understanding of carton and corrugated packaging production processes. Ability to identify common carton and packaging defects. Ability to work with product specifications, samples, measurements, and drawings. Ability to use basic measuring and inspection equipment. Understanding of quality control procedures. Basic knowledge of production machinery and processes is an advantage. PREFERRED CANDIDATE PROFILE The ideal candidate will be someone who has worked directly inside a carton/corrugated packaging factory, understands the production process from raw material to finished carton, and can identify quality problems through practical inspection rather than relying only on academic knowledge.
