Job Summary

  • The Product Manager is responsible for all aspects of a product line from conceptualization to commissioning. This includes coordination of activities across various departments. This extends from deepening the profitability and penetration of existing products to developing new products for the company.

Job Details

  • Manage the complete product life cycle, from strategic planning through to go-to-market execution.
  • Define market requirements for current and future products by gathering stakeholder feedback and conducting market research across multiple channels, including customer and prospect visits.
  • Prepare, maintain and communicate the product roadmap, setting out short- and long-term enhancements based on business opportunities and market research.
  • Develop wireframes and Software Requirement Specifications (SRS) for proposed development requirements.
  • Create feature descriptions to guide business analysts, and contribute to and approve product-related business requirements documents.
  • Validate detailed specifications and development costs against market potential and projected future revenue.
  • Develop and implement a company-wide go-to-market plan, coordinating interdepartmental activities to ensure effective execution.
  • Monitor and set product pricing to meet revenue and profitability targets.
  • Own product launch and release plans, coordinating internal and external launches with the marketing and training teams.
  • Develop and deploy key market messages and communication strategies with the marketing team, including release notes, demonstrations and improvement reports.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert in the product's markets, providing vision and leadership to technology research and development efforts.
  • Monitor and analyse emerging technologies and advise the company on their potential application to the business.
  • Prepare and deliver clear presentations to internal and external audiences, including sales training, support team training, train-the-trainer programmes, trade shows, symposia and key customer accounts.
  • Act as the liaison between Sales, Client Services, Marketing and Technology teams to support product positioning and respond to customer demand during new product development.
  • Work with the training team to develop product training materials and resources.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Economics, Finance, Information Technology or a related field; Master's degree or MBA is an added advantage.
  • Product management certification preferred, such as CSPO, AIPMM or an equivalent qualification.
  • 5 to 7 years' experience in product management or product development, preferably within a microfinance bank, bank or fintech.
  • Proven experience managing the product life cycle, from market research and requirements definition to launch and performance review.
  • Strong knowledge of microfinance products, including savings, loans, SME and digital banking solutions.
  • Working knowledge of CBN regulations and compliance requirements applicable to microfinance banks.
  • Experience developing product roadmaps, business requirements documents, SRS and wireframes.
  • Sound understanding of product pricing, profitability analysis and go-to-market planning.
  • Familiarity with Agile methodologies and experience working with technology and business analysis teams.
  • Strong analytical, presentation and stakeholder management skills.
