Pearl Hospital is seeking a competent, ethical and results-oriented Procurement and Supply Chain Officer to manage procurement, supplier performance and inventory controls. The successful candidate will ensure the timely availability of quality medicines, medical supplies, equipment and general goods at competitive prices.
- Prepare and implement procurement plans.
- Source quotations, evaluate suppliers and negotiate prices and terms.
- Procure medicines, laboratory reagents, medical consumables, equipment and general supplies.
- Monitor stock levels and prevent stock-outs, overstocking, expiries and emergency purchases.
- Maintain an approved supplier register and evaluate supplier performance.
- Ensure purchase orders and procurement records are complete, approved and audit-ready.
- Work with Finance, Pharmacy, Laboratory, Theatre, Nursing and other departments.
- Prepare monthly reports covering procurement expenditure, savings, stock-outs, supplier performance and outstanding orders.
- Supervise and develop the Procurement Assistant.
- Maintain professional, respectful and responsive relationships with staff and suppliers.
- Bachelor's degree in Procurement, Supply Chain Management, Commerce or a related field.
- At least two years of relevant procurement and supply-chain experience.
- Demonstrable experience in a hospital, pharmacy, laboratory, medical supplier or another regulated healthcare environment.
- Active KISM membership or eligibility for professional registration.
- Good knowledge of procurement controls, inventory management and FEFO principles.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and procurement, ERP or inventory-management systems.
- Strong negotiation, analytical, communication and record-management skills.
- High integrity and ability to work independently.
- CPSP-K, CIPS or another recognised procurement qualification.
- Experience supervising procurement staff.
- Evidence of delivering measurable savings, reducing stock-outs or improving supplier performance.
The successful candidate will be assessed on cost savings, stock availability, procurement turnaround time, reduction of emergency purchases and expiries, supplier performance, inventory accuracy and procurement compliance.
