A Premises Officer is responsible for the maintenance, security, and overall management of a site's buildings, grounds, and facilities, ensuring a safe, functional, and compliant environment.
Core Responsibilities
Maintenance and Facilities Management:
Plan, manage, and implement maintenance schedules for buildings, grounds, and equipment, including minor repairs in plumbing, electrical work, carpentry, and painting
Monitor the condition of buildings and grounds, ensuring cleanliness, tidiness, and compliance with health and safety standards
Coordinate and supervise external contractors for major repairs, maintenance, or improvement projects
Maintain records of utilities, meter readings, and scheduled maintenance checks
Health, Safety, and Risk Management:
Ensure compliance with health and safety legislation, including risk assessments and COSHH regulations
Monitor and report hazards, ensuring a safe environment for staff, students, and visitors
Respond to emergencies such as fire, flooding, or security breaches, and act as a first point of contact for emergency services
Security and Access Control:
Maintain site security, including opening and closing routines, key management, and monitoring CCTV and alarm systems
Supervise on-site security personnel and liaise with third-party security contractors
