The Physics Teacher will be responsible for teaching Physics to students, developing engaging lesson plans, conducting practical experiments, assessing students' performance, and preparing students for internal and external examinations.
Key Responsibilities
Teach Physics according to the school's curriculum and academic standards.
Prepare detailed lesson plans, notes, assignments, tests, and examination questions.
Explain physics concepts, theories, formulas, and practical applications clearly.
Conduct laboratory experiments and practical demonstrations safely.
Assess students through tests, assignments, practicals, and examinations.
Monitor students' academic progress and provide appropriate support where necessary.
Prepare students for examinations such as WAEC, NECO, and other relevant examinations.
Maintain accurate records of students' attendance, grades, and academic performance.
Encourage students to develop critical thinking, problem-solving, and scientific skills.
Maintain proper classroom discipline and create a positive learning environment.
Participate in staff meetings, school activities, workshops, and extracurricular programmes.
Communicate effectively with parents/guardians regarding students' academic progress when required.
Ensure proper care and use of laboratory equipment and other teaching resources.
Stay updated on current teaching methods and developments in Physics education.
Perform other duties assigned by the Principal or Head of Department.
Requirements and Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree (B.Sc./B.Ed.) in Physics, Education/Physics, or a related field.
Teaching qualification such as TRCN certification is an advantage.
Relevant teaching experience, preferably in a secondary school.
Good knowledge of the Nigerian secondary-school Physics curriculum.
Strong classroom management and communication skills.
Ability to use practical and interactive teaching methods.
Basic computer skills and familiarity with digital teaching tools.
