Lindii Peace Foundation (LPF) is seeking qualified, experienced and highly responsible Pharmacists to support the safe, effective and rational management and use of medicines and pharmaceutical supplies within its health programmes.
The Pharmacist will be responsible for pharmaceutical management, including procurement planning, receipt, storage, stock management, dispensing, distribution, rational medicine use, inventory control and monitoring of pharmaceutical products in accordance with approved standards, treatment protocols and regulatory requirements.
The successful candidates will work closely with Medical Doctors, Nurse Officers, Midwives, Laboratory Personnel, Drug Dispensers, programme teams and other relevant staff to ensure the availability, quality, safety and appropriate use of medicines and medical supplies.
The role will also contribute to prescription review, patient counselling, pharmacovigilance, infection prevention, stock forecasting, pharmaceutical reporting and strengthening of systems for accountability and responsible management of health commodities.

Pharmaceutical Services and Patient Care
- Provide professional pharmaceutical services in accordance with applicable standards and approved treatment protocols.
- Review prescriptions for appropriateness, completeness, dosage, potential interactions and other medication-related concerns.
- Dispense medicines accurately and provide appropriate instructions to patients and caregivers.
- Counsel patients on correct medication use, dosage, treatment duration, adherence and potential side effects.
- Identify and communicate potential medication-related risks to Medical Doctors and other relevant health personnel.
- Promote rational and safe use of medicines.
- Maintain patient confidentiality and protect sensitive medical information.
- Support appropriate follow-up of patients where pharmaceutical intervention or counselling is required.
Medicine and Pharmaceutical Stock Management
- Maintain accurate records of all medicines, medical supplies and pharmaceutical commodities.
- Monitor stock levels and ensure timely replenishment to prevent stock-outs and overstocking.
- Conduct regular physical stock counts and reconcile physical stock with stock records.
- Monitor expiry dates and implement appropriate measures to minimize losses due to expired medicines.
- Ensure proper storage of medicines in accordance with required temperature, security and storage conditions.
- Maintain appropriate stock cards, bin cards, inventory records and other pharmaceutical documentation.
- Identify damaged, expired, obsolete or unusable pharmaceutical products and manage them in accordance with approved procedures.
- Monitor consumption patterns and identify unusual or significant changes in medicine utilization.
Procurement and Pharmaceutical Forecasting
- Support forecasting and quantification of medicines and pharmaceutical supplies based on programme needs and consumption patterns.
- Provide technical input into pharmaceutical procurement plans.
- Support preparation of medicine and pharmaceutical supply requests.
- Review proposed pharmaceutical purchases to ensure they meet programme and clinical requirements.
- Work with procurement, logistics and programme teams to support timely availability of essential medicines.
- Ensure pharmaceutical products received meet required specifications and quality standards.
- Support verification of quantities, batch numbers, expiry dates and other relevant information upon receipt.
Storage, Distribution and Inventory Control
- Ensure medicines and pharmaceutical commodities are stored appropriately and systematically.
- Maintain appropriate storage conditions, including temperature monitoring where applicable.
- Apply appropriate stock rotation principles to minimize expiry and wastage.
- Ensure medicines are distributed to health facilities, service delivery points or authorized personnel in accordance with approved procedures.
- Maintain complete documentation for all pharmaceutical receipts, issues, transfers and adjustments.
- Monitor movement of medicines between locations and maintain appropriate accountability.
- Report losses, damages, discrepancies or suspected diversion of pharmaceutical products through established channels.
Rational Medicine Use and Prescription Monitoring
- Promote adherence to approved treatment guidelines and essential medicines lists.
- Review prescription patterns and identify inappropriate or potentially unsafe medicine use.
- Support clinical teams in promoting appropriate antibiotic and antimicrobial use.
- Identify potential drug interactions, contraindications, duplication or inappropriate dosing.
- Provide technical advice to healthcare workers on medicines and pharmaceutical products.
- Participate in prescription audits and medicine-use reviews where required.
- Recommend practical measures to improve rational medicine use and patient safety.
Pharmacovigilance and Medication Safety
- Monitor and document suspected adverse drug reactions and medication-related incidents.
- Ensure adverse drug reactions are appropriately reported through established mechanisms.
- Support investigation and follow-up of medication errors and other pharmaceutical safety concerns.
- Provide appropriate counselling to patients regarding possible side effects and medication precautions.
- Maintain appropriate pharmacovigilance records and reports.
- Escalate significant medication safety concerns promptly to the appropriate clinical and programme supervisors.
Quality Assurance and Regulatory Compliance
- Ensure pharmaceutical activities comply with applicable Nigerian laws, regulations and professional standards.
- Maintain valid professional registration and practising requirements.
- Verify the quality and authenticity of medicines and pharmaceutical products received.
- Monitor pharmaceutical products for signs of damage, deterioration, tampering or suspected counterfeit products.
- Ensure controlled or restricted medicines are managed in accordance with applicable regulations and organizational procedures.
- Support internal reviews, audits and other assurance activities relating to pharmaceutical management.
- Maintain accurate documentation to support accountability and compliance.
Capacity Building and Technical Support
- Provide technical guidance to Drug Dispensers, Nurses, Medical Doctors and other relevant health personnel on pharmaceutical matters.
- Support training and mentorship on medicine management, storage, dispensing and rational use.
- Promote correct interpretation and application of treatment protocols.
- Develop or contribute to pharmaceutical management tools, checklists and guidance materials.
- Support health teams to identify and address gaps in pharmaceutical practices.
- Promote a culture of accountability and responsible management of medicines and health commodities.
Reporting and Data Management
- Prepare accurate and timely pharmaceutical reports.
- Maintain records of medicine consumption, stock balances, losses, expiries and adjustments.
- Analyze pharmaceutical consumption and stock data to identify trends and potential risks.
- Provide information required for health programme reports and donor reporting.
- Maintain appropriate pharmaceutical trackers and inventory records.
- Ensure pharmaceutical documentation is complete, accurate and readily available for review.
- Contribute to monitoring and evaluation of pharmaceutical management systems.
Coordination and Programme Support
- Work closely with Medical Doctors, Nurse Officers, Midwives, Drug Dispensers, Laboratory Personnel and other health staff.
- Coordinate with procurement, logistics, finance and programme teams on pharmaceutical requirements.
- Participate in health programme meetings, planning sessions and reviews as required.
- Support outreach, mobile clinics and other programme activities where pharmaceutical services are required.
- Contribute to identifying pharmaceutical and supply-related gaps affecting service delivery.
- Recommend practical improvements to strengthen pharmaceutical systems and patient care.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor of Pharmacy (B.Pharm) or Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D) from a recognized institution.
- Valid registration and current practising licence with the Pharmacists Council of Nigeria (PCN).
- Minimum of 2 years of relevant professional experience.
- Demonstrated experience in dispensing, pharmaceutical stock management and patient counselling.
- Good knowledge of pharmaceutical management, medicine storage and inventory control.
- Good understanding of rational medicine use and prescription review.
- Knowledge of pharmacovigilance and medication safety practices.
- Strong documentation, reporting and record-keeping skills.
- Good computer skills, including Microsoft Office applications.
