Job Summary

  • We are seeking a qualified and dedicated Pharmacist to join our team.
  • The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the safe, effective, and appropriate use of medications while providing quality pharmaceutical care to patients.

Responsibilities

  • Dispense prescription medications accurately and safely in accordance with approved prescriptions and professional standards.
  • Review prescriptions for appropriateness, potential drug interactions, allergies, and contraindications.
  • Provide patients with appropriate information and counselling on the use, dosage, and possible side effects of medications.
  • Monitor medication therapy and identify potential medication-related problems.
  • Maintain accurate records of medications dispensed and pharmaceutical interventions.
  • Ensure proper storage, handling, and inventory control of medicines and other pharmaceutical products.
  • Monitor medication expiry dates and ensure proper stock rotation.
  • Collaborate with doctors, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to support optimal patient care.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant regulatory, professional, and organisational standards.
  • Participate in quality improvement, clinical audits, and other pharmacy-related activities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Head of Pharmacy or Management.

Requirements

Education:

  • Bachelor of Pharmacy (B.Pharm) or Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D) from a recognised institution.
  • Must be duly registered with the Pharmacists Council of Nigeria (PCN).
  • Possession of a current practicing licence is required.

Experience:

  • 1 - 2 years of relevant post-qualification experience in a hospital or clinical pharmacy setting.
  • Experience in medication dispensing, patient counselling, inventory management, and clinical pharmacy practice is an added advantage.

Other Requirements:

  • Must demonstrate high ethical and professional standards.
  • Must be patient-focused, reliable, and accountable.
  • Ability to work shifts, including weekends and public holidays, where required.
  • Candidates must be willing to work in Benin City, Edo State.
  • Must be able to work effectively in a fast-paced hospital environment.

Skills:

  • Excellent knowledge of pharmacology, therapeutics, and medication management.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organisational and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary healthcare team.
  • Good patient-care and counselling skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and relevant pharmacy/hospital management systems.
  • Ability to work under pressure and maintain professionalism.

Position Details Reporting to: Logistics and Supply Chain Manager Proposed start date: October 2026 KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Mission 1: Maintain the physical integrity of the medical stock Respect the Good Storage Practices for medical products; Organise the pharmacy according to standards; Maintain the physical integrity of the premises (secure openings, no water damage, no cracks in the roof or walls, no rodents, etc); Maintain the hygiene of the room (regular cleaning of the floor and shelves, maintenance of the refrigerator, absence of sugary food or drink etc); Check the temperature and humidity twice a day during the days worked; Ensure that all actions are taken to combat the factors that cause deterioration of medical products; Classify products according to the rules recommended by ACF; Ensure compliance with the special storage conditions for certain specific products (cold chain, products treated as narcotics). Mission 2: Ensure rigorous stock monitoring Update all essential management tools; Record all stock movements on the Stock Cards and the computerised stock monitoring tool; Carry out inventories in accordance with the ACF procedure and according to the defined pharmacy activity schedule; Transmit updated tools to the Nut/Health PM/HoD to allow stock analysis (CMM analysis, risk of shortages (SFU Med, Stock Report, etc)); Support the Nut/Health PM in risk analysis (identification of risks of expiry, shortages etc.) and in the actions to be taken; Remove expired products from stock (physically and virtually) and list them; Quarantine and secure expired and/or damaged products.
