Job Summary We are seeking an experienced Consultant Cardiac Surgeon to establish and provide high-quality surgical cardiac services for patients requiring complex cardiovascular surgical interventions. Key Responsibilities Evaluate and diagnose patients requiring cardiac surgical intervention. Develop individualized surgical treatment plans based on clinical assessment, investigations, and multidisciplinary recommendations. Perform cardiac surgical procedures including coronary artery bypass grafting, valve surgery, and other appropriate cardiac procedures. Provide comprehensive preoperative, intraoperative, and postoperative surgical management. Participate actively in multidisciplinary cardiac case discussions and treatment planning. Work closely with cardiac anaesthetists, perfusionists, cardiologists, ICU teams, and perioperative nurses. Manage postoperative complications and provide appropriate surgical interventions. Supervise and mentor junior surgeons and other surgical team members. Participate in clinical audits, morbidity and mortality meetings, research, teaching, and quality improvement initiatives. Requirements Medical degree (MBBS/MD or equivalent). Fellowship in Cardiothoracic/Cardiac Surgery or equivalent internationally recognized specialist qualification. Current specialist registration and medical practising licence, with eligibility for registration in Nigeria. Minimum of seven (7) years of post-specialization experience in cardiac surgery. Demonstrated experience performing major cardiac surgical procedures independently. Experience in coronary artery bypass surgery and valve surgery is essential. Experience establishing or developing cardiac surgery services is an added advantage. Strong leadership, clinical decision-making, and multidisciplinary collaboration skills. Commitment to teaching, mentorship, research, quality improvement, and patient safety. Open to qualified local and expatriate candidates.
