Job Description :

• Prepare, set up, operate, and maintain electrical engineering laboratory equipment and experimental apparatus.
• Assist in upgrading, adapting, and improving laboratory setups to support teaching, experimentation and project-based learning.
• Maintain, inspect, and troubleshoot laboratory equipment, test instruments and associated electrical systems.
• Guide students through correct procedures for practical experiments, equipment operation, measurements, and fault-finding exercises.
• Provide technical support to students during practical sessions, experiments, and projectbased learning activities.
• Maintain detailed records of equipment usage, damages, repairs, maintenance activities and laboratory resources.
• Maintain accurate assessment and practical evaluation records for laboratory experiments.
• Assist lecturers during practical evaluation and assessment sessions.
• Ensure that laboratory equipment and work areas are maintained in a safe, functional, and orderly condition.
• Assist with the preparation of practical demonstrations, experiments, and laboratory activities in accordance with relevant safety procedures.
• Report equipment faults, safety concerns, shortages, and maintenance requirements to the appropriate academic or technical staff.
• Support the effective and safe use of electrical laboratory facilities by students and staff.
• Assist with GA and ECSA evidence files.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

• Advanced Diploma/BTech Engineering Electrical: Power Engineering
• Trade test certificate is an advantage.

EXPERIENCE:

• A minimum of two (2) years of relevant laboratory experience in an institute of higher education, OR two (2) years of professional industrial experience.

ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES:

• A high level of discipline and reliability.
• Excellent communication (report-writing and verbal) skills.
• Expertise in Engineering software (MATLAB)
• Ability to conduct and evaluate electrical experiments.
• Good interpersonal skills (Collegiality, team player and time management).
• Problem-solving and critical thinking Skills.
