Position Overview

Proforce Defence is seeking a skilled, precision-driven Panel Beater to join our engineering and production team at our manufacturing facility in Ode Remo, Ogun State. The successful candidate will be responsible for shaping, forming, repairing, and aligning sheet metal, armored steel panels, vehicle body frames, and protective bodywork for tactical, specialized, and armored vehicles to strictly meet structural and automotive manufacturing specifications.

Key Responsibilities

  • Panel Fabrication & Shaping: Measure, cut, bend, beat, and reshape sheet metal, armored plates, and composite materials to match exact vehicle body contours and design templates.
  • Structural Alignment & Frame Straightening: Utilize hydraulic pulling equipment, alignment jigs, and measuring systems to realign warped, misaligned, or damaged vehicle frames and body structures.
  • Metal Joining & Preparation: Perform tack welding, brazing, planishing, shrinking, and stretching on metal components to achieve flawless, stress-free surfaces before surface finishing.
  • Component Fitting: Fit, align, and secure exterior body panels, doors, hinges, hoods, armor plating, and custom brackets to ensure correct panel gaps and seamless mechanical integration.
  • Defect Rectification & Surface Repair: Identify and repair surface irregularities, dents, distortion, or structural flaws in body shells using specialized hammers, dollies, blocks, and metal-forming tools.
  • Blueprint Compliance: Work directly from engineering blueprints, 3D body schematics, and technical specifications to build or modify vehicle body structures.

Key Engineering & Technical Knowledge Requirements

  • Sheet Metal & Armor Metallurgy: Deep understanding of metal behavior, work hardening, elasticity, thermal expansion, and mechanical properties of high-strength steel, aluminum, and armor alloys.
  • Body Alignment & Geometric Dimensioning: Expertise in reading geometric dimensions, measuring body points, and operating hydraulic chassis pullers and frame-alignment jigs.
  • Metalworking & Shaping Techniques: Mastery of planishing, shrinking, stretching, wheeling (English wheel), power hammering, and hand-beating techniques.
  • Engineering Blueprint Interpretation: Ability to read and execute body assembly directly from technical engineering drawings, CAD views, and structural layouts.
  • Quality Assurance Standards: Strong knowledge of automotive body fitment tolerances, surface flatness checks, and structural integrity standards for heavy and armored vehicles.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Education: NABTEB, Trade Test Class 1, OND, or HND/B.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering, Metallurgy, Automotive Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
  • Experience: Minimum of 2 - 5 years of hands-on panel beating and auto-body fabrication experience within a vehicle manufacturing plant, coachbuilding facility, or heavy equipment fabrication shop.
  • Skills: High manual dexterity, spatial reasoning, proficiency with pneumatic and hydraulic metalworking tools, and strong attention to dimensional accuracy.
